Finally replaced my prehistoric shaker-1000 with a Pioneer Avic X950 touchscreen Nav\Phone\DVD\CD\HD Radio\etc. Head unit was ~$700, and replaced all Non-Sub speakers at the same time. Everything is working flawlessly, and sounds great. If you are on the fence for after-market, just do it, like a Tiger.

Looks great! I did it a year or so ago adding the Shelby/Shaker amp and new subs along with separates. Best thing I've done to the car so far.

Yep, the stock speakers were garbage. I thought they were toys when they gave them back to me.

I had the 500 and I added a Saleen powered sub in the trunk, the new Shaker subs and the CDTs and what a difference, even in a vert. I've always enjoyed Pioneer products just bought a head unit for a '66 Chevy truck I'm restoring.
