Here is video I put together of a pretty sweet sleeper a buddy on mine owns. The car is a '79 Zephr with a Twin 76mm turbo LSX and a glide on the column. Awesome car and surprises a lot of people.

Best part is this car is on a 275 DR
Enjoy

Sleeper? Ehhh not so much IMO. A huge lope cam, and piping sticking out of the front doesn't seem too sleeper-ish to me.

Definitely a shocker though. And wayyyy sick. Props to your buddy for being original!

Needs to be "alot" quieter to be a sleeper. If I "heard" it at a stoplight, I would know it's not STOCK.

Kinda tough to make a car have that much power and sound like a stock engine. I guess the chute on the back and the DR's kinda give it away too, but who cares. You'd never expect that car to run a 8.6x, even with the lopey engine. I'd probably just figure he threw a 350 SBC in it or something.

I guess the final question is.....why?

Why invest that level of income on a car like that?

Why not? Only money he has into it is the parts and HIS own labor. He use to have a 89 notch with all these goodies in it but thought to many people have fast mustangs around and decided to do something different. He laughs when people ask him why. He has turned something that usually doesn't go very fast into one of the, if not the fastest street cars in Alberta, Canada.

Plus he has done it on a budget. Yes there are some nice parts on the car. But the motor for instance is not some 30,000 dollar build or anything. Not 100% sure on the specs but there are still quite a few stock parts in that motor. He probably has half of what most people would put into a car that runs the same times.

I give this guy credit with building a different (maybe WAY different) muscle/race car. He could have taken the traditional route, bought say a Mustang, and build it into an 8 second race car. But he choice to do something out of the ordinary. Something the original hot rodders might have done back in the day. Like it or not (I do), it is getting the job done nicely. 8.57 @ 162. Kudos to him!

I love it! It would be fun to pull up to next to Bugatti Veyrons in that thing. He should add large Twinkie decals to go along with the "Cream Dream theme".

Owner of the car here..... Thanks for the post tyler, Since these pics were taken the floor shifter has been removed, wheel screws painted black, rear center cap installed, all of the piping/intercooler powdercoated black, collumn shift made back functional.

The car is somewhat loud but especially at idle it sounds more like a farm truck then a mid 8 second STREET car. The car cruises around with no chute on and most people dont think twice about it.
