Man Coinbase is a rip off. Went to buy 1 ETH and $36. Think RH was about $10.

Coinbase isn't a rip off imo. When you buy with coinbase you actually own your asset. You can move it to a different wallet or exchange if you want. With RH you don't actually own anything really. Just some numbers on a ledger. Only way to move that asset is to sell and buy somewhere else incurring a taxable event along the way. Paying an extra 1% in fees for that alone is worth it to me.

Especially with the RH bs with halting trading at their convenience.

E trade and Merril, along with numerous other large brokers, halt/restrict trading as well. I actually left Merril because it cost me money.

And I don’t care about owning the coins. Have no use for it at this point.

for all of you that think bitcoin is anonymous and can't be traced......

U.S. Retrieves Millions in Ransom Paid to Colonial Pipeline Hackers
Governments should love that! Cash is a lot easier to launder.

There are cryptos like Monero and Zcash that offer more privacy. Zcash actually has the same supply limit as Bitcoin. Some are worried those privacy coins will be banned by governments more so than less anonymous cryptocurrencies.

I am curious though how the FBI were able to get the private key of the hackers. They claim they just happened to have the key for that wallet. Was it an exchange wallet and did the exchange give them the key?!

I am very happy with staking Ethereum on Coinbase. They have a counter that runs showing your rewards in dollar terms in real time. Like a stop watch. That is very cool and a nice way for the customer to see the rewards increase.

I need to find another reliable staking service for more of my ETH. I maxed out the limit on Coinbase.

I don't want to stake myself via a validator. It sounds like a real pain in the ass and the risk of having your funds slashed if the validator misbehaves will be too nerve-racking and I would never be able to relax. Coinbase takes on all that risk, for a small fee of course.

I have heard the theory that it was actually the FBI that created bitcoin. The analogy that I heard is that it is like borax in that ants take it back to the colony and eventually it kills them all. Far fetched but not out of the realm of possibility. LOL to those that think it is untraceable.

The Israelis created a stealth software that hides itself and attacks very specific things. I read that every computer out there is probably infected, but since your not an Iranian computer controlling a centrifuge, no worries. Now think about what the full power and might of the USA at secret squirrel computer organizations can do.

IRS head asks for more authority to get cryptocurrency data
  • Internal Revenue Service Commissioner Charles P. Rettig asked Congress for more authority to get cryptocurrency data, Bloomberg reports.
  • During a U.S. Senate Finance Committee hearing, the head of the IRS said that Congress should provide clear authority to require that large crypto transfers be reported to the tax collection agency.

Was the colonial hack an inside job? Is the ransom story bullshit? Perhaps the FBI just moved bitcoins around and claimed they were able to get it back from these so called Darkside hackers? I could see them do something like this. It's a nice way to tank Bitcoin. Someone technical and knowledgeable about cryptos should confirm if it is possible to do what the FBI did.

Or its occams razor - the hackers are the government. That's why after it all went down, Darkside group announced their "Retirement". No, The government created a problem and then made it look like they fixed it.

This and the many more "hacks" to come are all products of the current administration and powers that be looking to destabilize supply chains and our faith in capitalism/free market as having the solutions, so they can push socialism as a stable alternative. "If you just put your faith in us, we can fix all of these things!"

Yep! Good post. We all know the FBI can be trusted with basically nothing. They are dishonest, incompetent, even criminal. Yeah I am going to believe whatever manure they're shoveling - not!

Can Ethereum be staked on Coinbase Pro or does it have to be on Coinbase? Also, does it have to be staked on the computer or can it be done via the mobile app? I'm guessing it can't be done on the mobile app since I didn't see an obvious way to do so.

I'm not sure if this is still the case but to stake to ETH2.0 on coinbase originally you had to get on a waiting list. Could be different now. But I saw the option a couple months back on the app. Didn't have to be on the computer.

Could you not do all that on Coinbase pro, without the extra fees? I was putting in small amounts as i got cash…and a $2.99 fee on a recurring $25 buy was a little much IMO
