I was trying to figure out the best brake fluid to use for a brake flush job - and stumbled across 2 new standards I'd never heard of: DOT 5 and DOT 5.1.
Now - after a little reading - I can tell that DOT 5 is a non-starter for my Cobra since it is silicone based and just all around not good if mixed with old DOT 3/4 fluid.
However - the DOT 5.1 is supposed to be a replacement for both DOT 3 & 4. It supposed to be more electronic component friendly and less prone to absorb water and higher boiling point. I'm kind of tempted to use it for the brake flush I'm planning. Just curious if anybody else has heard of it or used it before?
Here is the product I found on Amazon:
There are other products out there, but this is the one that caught my eye.
