Many have wondered why Bruce started appearing in direct to video movies the past few years. Some speculated he was lazy and wanted an easy payout. His face and name would be on a movie poster but he barely appeared in the movie and if he did the performance was robot like and uninspiring.

Well maybe this explains what's been going on with Bruce.

Bruce Willis is stepping away from acting after a diagnosis of aphasia, a condition that causes loss of the ability to understand or express speech, his family said Wednesday.

In a statement posted on Willis' Instagram page, the 67-year-old actor's family announced that Willis was recently diagnosed with aphasia and that it is impacting his cognitive abilities.

"As a result of this and with much consideration, Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him," read the statement signed by Willis' wife, Emma Heming Willis, his ex-wife Demi Moore, and his five children, Rumer, Scout, Tallulah, Mabel and Evelyn.

"We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him," they said. "As Bruce always says, 'Live it up' and together we plan to do just that."

There are many potential causes of aphasia. It often occurs after a stroke or head injury, but can also develop gradually due to a slow-growing brain tumor or a disease that causes degenerative damage, like Alzheimer's disease. It's treated primarily with speech therapy and learning non-verbal means of communication.

Willis' family didn't divulge what caused his aphasia. Representatives for the actor declined to comment.

The news about Willis, one of Hollywood's most beloved actors, immediately spread online as fans reacted. His four-decade career has amassed more than $5 billion in box office worldwide.

Willis had been working steadily and frequently. Renowned for films like "Die Hard," "Pulp Fiction" and "The Sixth Sense," Willis has in recent years churned out straight-to-video thrillers. Last year, he starred in a staggering eight films. Most came and went quietly, including titles like "Cosmic Sin," "Out of Death" and "Deadlock."

Most recently, Willis starred in February's "Gasoline Alley" and "A Day to Die," released in early March. Willis has already shot at least six more films due out in 2022 and 2023, including "Die Like Lovers," "Corrective Measures" and "The Wrong Place."

Sad to hear this news. He's a widely respected (and darned good) actor and will surely be missed on the big screen.

Supposedly, he made a bunch of small cheap movies to try to cash in the most before his condition got worse to leave for his family in the future.

Nicolas Cage did something like this as well, was on the verge of going bankrupt and did a bunch of VOD to pay for his crap and his mom's hospital bills.

Willis is a legend. Grew up watching a ton of films. Die Hard still the best Christmas movie ever made.

And yet Color out of Space and Mandy are Cage's best works ever.

The real head scratcher was John Travolta who was a mega star that decided to only take on garbage movies for decades.

You know Will Smith is a total cuck since his son is literally named after his wife (Jada, Jaden) and has decided to look like her and her boyfriend while also being gay.

Will Smith is only 53.
If he was halfway normal, had balls or any combination of the two... Punch the **** out and start over.

Smiths net worth is $250M, even if Jada takes $200m he's still set for life and can generate more wealth. Take a year off, hire a trainer, get back in shape, get a 25 year old hot wife, have a bunch more kids and move the **** on from that disaster.

Smith makes Baldwin look like a ****ing stud.

Love Bruce Willis, definitely sad to hear. I was born in 87, so to me Bruce just seems so synonymous with all the late 80s/90s action stars. It was interesting watching a show on Netflix called "Movies We All Love" about Die Hard and how the move was expected to bomb and Bruce's casting was considered a joke.

On Will and his ridiculous family, I almost feel sorry for him. He always seemed fairly normal and was in some of my favorite movies growing up, but he married that fugly fame-chaser (she probably reminds him every day that Tupac was better) and let her ruin his manhood and their kids. If a weak joke from Chris Rock (who is never mean-spirited) can get you agitated, it's time to see a therapist or something. Agree with @Corbic , he needs to cut bait and start over.
