Someone shared this with me today. Looks like the 0 to 30 time is the same as the Dodge Demon, The 0 to 60 is under three seconds, and the quarter mile time is very good for a car with only 495hp.

I wonder how it will stack up against a new GT500 on the street. Not on the dragstrip just stop at the stop light.

C8 will lose from a roll but win against a lesser driver light to light.

    Another thread on this eh?

    Winning.

I bet the new gt500 will be able to hit 3.25 to 3.1 0-60 in great conditions.

121mph trap speed is low for the c8, I expect closer to 125 honestly.

    460hp 10a mustangs weighing 3850lbs are doing 121.

    C6z’s ran 120-128 with 505hp and 3200lbs. Manual trans

495hp with a dct and 3500lbs to motivate is a 125mph combo. Someone will click a 10.9 in stocker at a great venue

@tt335ci03cobra, I tend to agree with your comments. I'm looking forward to see real world postings from track outings on both the GT500 and C8. REALLY looking forward (ultimately) to seeing what the future Z06 will be tracking.

If I'm not mistaken on how gear ratios work, anything less that 1:1 is considered an overdrive gear. You're telling me this thing has FIVE overdrive gears??? Granted, it has a 5.17 rear gear (Z51), but dang. Five overdrive gears?? Something tells me it's not going to be too impressive at highway rolls.

I had to do the math, because that is a curious notion, but compared to the C7 GS with a M7 and 3.42 the C8 still is putting out about 25% more torque *as far as simply taking the rear gear and multiplying by the trans gear is concerned. 3.42 to 5.17 is about a 44% increase, whereas most of the actual gears are only about 15% longer in the C8. Still... why 5 over drives and not just 5-6 normal gears and a decent final drive? Made sense to someone, but not to me.

I’m thinking stop light to stoplight, not so much. On the highway, C8 is getting brolapsed!

I'll agree with that! I think it will be a good race from light to light. But, on the open road,.....the C8 gets BROLAPSED!!! o_O

We will find out when the car comes out but 1.1 sec 0-30mph isn't happening on factory PS4 tires , that's low 1.5 60'

I think the gt500 will run low 130’s in and on most decent hands and tracks.

I think the c8 495hp effort has 125+ in it.

Considering the c8 is two Honda Accord payments, $1000 a month on a 6 year.... well you get the experience of a Ferrari for basically plebeian car payment money. Lots of cool stuff like the removable roof, big power and mid engine, etc etc. Very practical mileage, very usable storage space. Great car. I want one used in 5 years for $35k or less.

Not to bump a stale thread but...

I can't say if I were to buy a new performance car that I would buy a 2020 GT500. The C8 offers so much more for the price. Much lower weight, will probably beat the GT500 on tighter tracks, removable roof, looks way better, and mid-engine layout is a game changer. I could care less about street racing of any kind, way too much risk these days.

Super high HP, while fun, has gotten superfluous. I just want to feel engagement with the vehicle. I could give a rat's ass how fast the guy next to me is. I want the visceral experience of driving. So strong consideration would be give the GT350 or a C8 (primarily the removable roof).

This. I've been saying for years I wish manufacturers would stop selling to magazines and start selling to individuals / enthusiasts again. The sad part is the manual transmission is now a commodity. Take Porsche, any time they make a limited run manual transmission it's sold out before it's even made.

If Ford has built this new platform the size of the new edge at 3400lbs instead of 3700 then made the 350R under 3400lbs at 500+ HP. Win Win!!

I don’t understand why ford built a bigger mustang and it still has the interior dimensions of the new edge?

They did this with big Taurus too. Huge car interior dimensions of the fusion. Crazy!!
Do you believe the c8 will beat the c7z around tight tracks? I don’t. The c8gs should. But that’s not out yet.

You’re not stating the 350 is better than the 500 are you?

Not really sure I’d buy a first year C8. Unless you have be seen in the new toy and will sell in a year, I’d say it’s a gamble to buy GM’s mid-engine experiment out of the gate.

The gt350 is in line with the c8.

3650lbs for an R, 120mph+ in the quarter, high 11’s. Handles amazing.

For the money, I’d buy a gt350r over a c8. Ive been thinking about it quite a bit and my honest gripe with the gt500 is weight. I would love a 3500lbs new hyper performance muscle car but those days are long gone.

My ideal car would be a very basic interior s550 gt350r with the new 7.3L making 600hp na at 7500rpm weight 3500lbs or less with an SLA upfront.

No it is not. 350 (to include R) is gonna get gapped at everything by the c8. Let’s not even get into how the c8 will sell at a much better price than the 350R.

Can you add the links that prove this? Seems you are making a big assumption.
