hey guys chasing a charging system problem, my volts have been reading 14-16.5 volts during start ups and battery flashes occasionally during cruising . dash flickers along with lights. kmj 200 amp with big wire , optima red top thats a year old . gotta recharge my battery every now and then because it drains , maybe because its not on a battery tender who knows. recently noticed im missing a ground on the driver side area by the battery but have tried tracing it and could not find the bare ground . PFA for reference .
does anyone know where this ground leads to?

could I have a bad diode or voltage regulator ? any other grounds to check?

I had same the same issue with a brand new KMJ 250 amp alternator. And then the same issue again with the rebuilt one he sent me. Long story short, I now have a Mechman alternator.

That ground connects over by the engine compartment fuse box. You'll find your starter connector and the ground. The ground has 2 pins.

Did you go with the pulley size he suggested? I have the 250 currently and I think it needs a smaller pulley than the 3" he recommends to run correctly. Oh, and mine was DOA as well the first time.

i ended up using an alternator rpm calculator and pullied it more for idle output, which is a little over the recommended max rpm @ 7k engine rpm. I figure the miniscule time it spends up there shouldn't be a problem. Seems these high output aftermarket units don't always do a great job of idle rpm output.

It was one of those things that I knew better going in but wanted to try it anyway. I need to swap pullies to a stock sized pulley, but I just don't feel like getting under there again right now.
