I got my cervini cobra r hood a few weeks back and had wrongly assumed it was gonna be functional. I've been searching for pics of the real hood but can't seem to find any of the driver view of it, so I can see how it's actually cut out.

I've already started cutting it up, and would like to make it functional and was wondering if anyone has done this before, and if they have pics of the underside and driver view. Basically, I'm trying to figure out if I can cut all the way across on certain areas, without it flapping around when I'm driving, I posted pics of what I have done so far. Thanks in advance.

I seem to remember reading an article on the 00R that stated the hood was not functional. Also opening the back of the hood like that will not help cooling. By opening the rear of the hood you are actually forcing air into the engine compartment not letting it out. This happens because of the high pressure zone created where the rear of the hood or cowl contacts the windshield.

If you're going to open up any part of that hood it should be the simulated vents on the dome. There won't be much cooling benefit due to the location but it will be better then what you've already done, I would close those holes up if I were you.

I also recommend doing a search on this site particularly in the road race section and look for stuff by racebronco.

Damn that really sucks, I should have asked before I hacked away at my hood. I actually was trying to search but i guess i was searching the wrong terms in the wrong section. I've got a lot of reading to do now that I know what to search for. Thanks for the info guys.

Unless you're attached to that hood for some reason it might actually be more cost effective and easier to sell it and buy another. Glossing back in those vents wont be that easy from what I can see. Your call though.

I live in the middle of the ocean on a rock, shipping that hood here was almost as much as the hood itself. I got a buddy that does bodywork I'll ask him and see how much beer it's gonna cost to reglass. Can you point me in the direction of the rscebronco stuff you were referring to? I've searched and can't seem to find it.

It's hot where i live and heats always been the enemy on my cars, which is why I thought this was gonna be such a great idea sigh...

Sorry I missed the "2" at the end of racebronco. Search user name racebronco2. Also do some searching for heat extractor hood on Google. Searcher for tiger racing hood also provides good information.

The '00R hood is perfectly effective when you vent it from the top, which can be done with the FRPP version made by HO Fibertrends. Plenty on it here => Exterior

Have had mine for years and am glad I got rid of the OE Terminator hood.

Very nice, I ended up starting to do something similar on the top vents, but looking at yours it looks like I can open up mines a little more. Do you think I can cut those top vents all the way across? Also thanks, that was a interesting read!

While there is a benefit to opening the simulated vents I honestly think the last one closest to the windshield is negating some of that. I say this because of the high pressure area at the base of the windshield. From what I understand this area grows as speed increases and will push air back into the engine compartment.

They are needed for structural support.

Zero issues with running hot or having heated air flow back in to engine. I did a lot of driving with strips of heavy string taped all over the hood and near the vents: all showed air flow out, not back in, even at speeds in the vicinity of 120MPH. Near the windshield, the high back lip does a great job of pushing air back in, so there are no unusual increases in heat. Two of my friends also use this hood in the same way and none of us have anything but good things to say about it.
