I recently purchased a Glock 43X as a concealed carry gun to replace my Glock 27. I carried the 27 for several years in a Don Hume holster in the appendix area like this:

This is the holster I used:

I liked it so much I got one for the new gun, but I’m still open to other options. I want to know what holster you use, where you wear it and how you like it.

I have a Galco Horsehide IWB that I wear just behind my right hip. There is nothing really that comfortable about wearing a holster but it doesn't bother me anymore. I have had it for almost 5 years now, wearing it every single day, and it still feels relatively new. Screenshot_20190207-144943_Gallery.jpg

I've only used Hume holsters for revolvers and they certainly stood up to the abuse.

Been using Vedder LightTuck (love it) but recently switched to a Tier1 Axis Slim. Most comfortable way to carry a spare mag that I've found.

I also carry a Vedder LightTuck just behind my right hip and carry a Vedder double spare mag carrier just behind my left hip. I’ve owned about every type of IWB holster and manufacturer.

I also currently own The Holster Company OWB holster for one of my other guns and absolutely love it. They’re a Michigan based company and it’s quite possibly the nicest holster I’ve owned. Furthermore, although I’ve never owned one, a couple buddies swear by Stealthgear holsters.

Alien Gear IWB just behind right hip. Best holster I've used.

I use a Rawdog tactical IWB holster carrying appendix. I liked a few others but not many options for my Beretta PX4 Storm Compact. Plus I like the Carbon fiber.

The Galco Royal Guard is the best IWB holster I have used in 29 years. The Galco King Tuk and the Crossbreed are the second best IWB holsters I have used... but I don't recommend those for appendix carry.

I've never tried an IWB...yet. My daily carry S&W Shield lives in an Azula 2-Slot OWB holster. Great fit and it's comfortable, but there are more blemishes in the leather than I like. On the backside there's a leather extension that covers the rear slide. Helps prevent chafing.

And for my HK VP9SK, I have a Nightingale Griffon V OWB holster. The craftsmanship is superb and it's comfortable.

I might harsh somebody's mellow here. I used to carry appendix.

Some of the best trainers I know won't allow appendix carry in their classes. Like Ken Hackathorn as I recall.

I have a friend who is a master class shooter and he was working on his draw. Put four holes in his leg. If he was carrying AIWB, that could have been a hole in his pee pee, maybe femoral artery, and so on...

I am not a fan of appendix carry for those very reasons. I don't even like IWB carry due to degree of difficulty to re-holstering. Most IWB holsters don't allow for easy one-handed re-holster. Also, many IWB holsters invariably force the muzzle to point at your body.

The reason I like the Royal Guard is because while holstering and carrying, if the holster is used correctly, its impossible to point the weapon at yourself.

I should probably try some others but this is my only holster I have. I use it to carry my G33 appendix style. Super minimalistic and is easy to wear around in the summer with just a tank top or whatever covering the end of gun.

If I didnt carry condition 1 with no safety I wouldn't mind appendix. I'm not concerned I would ever ND myself but there is no way Im taking that slim chance of blowing my dick off. I've seen a video of a guy who ND'd at appendix and it just made me cringe.

It's not much of a difference but going to index from the holster there is not as natural as if it is on your hip. At least for me.

Maybe it's because I'm too fat, but I tried appendix location with an unloaded firearm once. Not comfortable whatsoever. When sitting the muzzle is pointing right at your internals. Not a good feeling.

My mellow will be fine and I appreciate your reply. I definitely think about where the muzzle is pointed. I only work on my draw with an empty gun and the Don Hume holster is very stiff as to not push on the trigger. I also like that the Glock has a trigger safety Incase the holster gets a little flimsy near the trigger guard over the years.
