Im going to have to get my new plates soon and I was thinking of customizing them..in texas the old ones are six characters long...(123-456..example) But the new ones are coming out with 7 characters..I already had what I wanted to fit the six letter plate but my question is am I going to have to figure something new out for the new plates? Or can I still put only six letters since i'm paying for this? Anyone in texas know how this goes? thanks..

You can have less than the maximum required number. Our Lightning only has 5 - HAULR.

Yes, you can have less - just not more. And don't ask for Wingdings font, because they won't do it. :(

I know they've been talking about going to 7 characters, but is it official now?

Any new plate issued is now 7 characters and has been for almost a year. Prior to that exempt plates were being issued as 7 characters. I'm not sure how this applies to personalized plates though.
