Cylinder Head Removal/Installation

I know there have been a few people looking for a how to for the cylinder heads. This how to is from Chiltons Libary, its a pretty kick ass site with alot of DIY info. 1.Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions at the beginning of this section.

2.Remove the engine from the vehicle and mount it on a suitable work stand.

3.Disconnect Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor connector.

4.Remove water bypass tube.

5.Disconnect Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor.

6.Disconnect fuel pressure sensor connector and vacuum line.

7.Remove ignition coils.

8.Remove spark plugs.

9.Remove valve covers.

10.Remove supercharger belt idler support bracket assembly.

11.Remove the accessory drive belt.

12.Remove water pump pulley.

13.Remove water pump.

14.Remove crankshaft pulley.

15.Remove alternator and support bracket.

16.Remove power steering pump.

17.Remove idler pulley.

18.Remove rocker arms.

19.Remove Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve.

20.Remove EGR tube.

21.Disconnect fuel injector wiring connectors.

22.Remove intake manifold, supercharger, and fuel supply manifold as an assembly.

23.Remove left and right exhaust manifolds.

24.Remove front cover.

25.Remove Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor pulse wheel.

26.Remove timing chains.

27.Remove hydraulic lash adjusters.

28.Remove cylinder heads.

To install:


NOTE
The cylinder head bolts are a torque-to-yield design and cannot be reused.



1.Use new gaskets and install the cylinder heads.

2.Tighten the cylinder head bolts in sequence as follows:

■Step 1: 28–31 ft. lbs. (37–43 Nm).

■Step 2: Tighten the bolts 85–95 degrees.

■Step 3: Loosen all bolts 1 full turn.

■Step 4: Tighten all bolts to 28–31 ft. lbs. (37–43 Nm).

■Step 5: Tighten the bolts 85–95 degrees.

■Step 6: Tighten the bolts 85–95 degrees.

3.Install hydraulic lash adjusters.

4.Install timing chains.

5.Install CKP sensor pulse wheel.

6.Install front cover.

7.Install left and right exhaust manifolds.

8.Install intake manifold, supercharger, and fuel supply manifold as an assembly.

9.Connect fuel injector wiring connectors.

10.Install EGR valve.

11.Install EGR tube.

12.Install rocker arms.

13.Install idler pulley.

14.Install power steering pump.

15.Install alternator and support bracket.

16.Install crankshaft pulley.

17.Install water pump.

18.Install water pump pulley.

19.Install the accessory drive belt.

20.Install supercharger belt idler support bracket assembly.

21.Install valve covers.

22.Install spark plugs.

23.Install ignition coils.

24.Connect CMP sensor.

25.Connect fuel pressure sensor connector and vacuum line.

Yup thats the site, I'll fix it in the how to. Guess they changed sites or something because I noticed the other day I couldnt get on there anymore. Thanks for the new link


i think its the way you copy and paste the link..if i use the top bar it does that..i forget sometimes too because it will work for just you when you check the post before you send it...
