I need to get the wife’s 06 smogged, but it’s having an issue with the fuel level sending unit. It’s the known issue for the sensor randomly showing empty and then showing the correct level. The issue is that it throws a CEL when this happens. If I clear the CEL then it resets the drive cycle. I know you’re not supposed to have a CEL when getting the car smogged, but does that only pertain to engine CEL’s? Should it still pass with the sending unit code? I do have a new module coming, but I’m trying to plan in case this doesn’t fix the issue.
