Higher Flow
DeatschWerks offers high-flow fuel injectors for Ford EcoBoost engines

Regular readers know that DeatschWerks provided the 95-lb/hr injectors for Ford Performance’s latest Cobra Jet Mustang drag racer. However, those squirters aren’t the only new Ford offering from the company. Knowing that performance enthusiasts are squeezing a lot more power out of EcoBoost engines, DeatschWerks developed high-flow fuel injectors for 2.0-, 2.3- and 3.5-liter EcoBoost engines.

Designed to work in F-150s, Focus STs, Mustangs and Taurus SHOs, these injectors are available under two part numbers—one for the four-cylinder engines (PN 19s-01-1700-4; $639) and one for the six-cylinder engines (PN 19s-00-1700-6; $949).

“The HDEV1700 is a drop-in fitment for many applications, which utilize the Bosch HDEV5 injector platform. This includes the popular 2.0-, 2.3- and 3.5-liter Ford EcoBoost engines,” says the company. “The new injector flows 1700cc/min at 100 bar of fuel pressure which is more than a 30-percent increase in flow over the stock EcoBoost injectors. The patent-pending process used in this injector allows for increased flow while retaining the OE spray pattern, which maximizes fuel economy, emissions, and driveability.”

One of the test vehicles for these injectors was none other than the world’s first 10-second EcoBoost Mustang piloted by BG Racing’s Brad Gusler. With SCT Performance being one of Brad’s supporters on that racing effort, it’s no surprise that DeatschWerks turned to SCT Performance to help them develop base calibrations for these new injectors.

“The DW HDEV1700 was as easy as tuning an OE injector,” former SCT Calibration Specialist Matt Alderman (now of ID Motorsports) said. “The SCT value file we created maintained factory driveability and fuel economy.”

The company also logged hours of bench testing, dyno testing, street miles with these injectors in 2.0-, 2.3- and 3.5-liter engines, so they are ready to run in your EcoBoost Ford.

For the Focus STs with 2.0-liter as well as Focus RS and Ecoboost Mustangs with 2.3-liter engines, DeatschWerks offers this set of four HDEV1700 injectors (PN 19s-01-1700-4; $639).

For those in need of more fuel in an EcoBoost F-150 or Taurus SHO, DeatschWerks has this set of six HDEV1700 injectors (PN 19s-00-1700-6; $949).

As you can see, the DeatschWerks HDEV1700s offer over 30 percent more flow than the stock EcoBoost injectors. Thanks to value files available from SCT it will be easy to add these squirters to your EcoBoost Ford and have them tuned to work with your combo.
