My fireworks stash went off pretty solid until the the very last part failed lol. Had two 3 inch nine on a board tubes rigged to go simultaniously with 4 500 grams cakes...the one box failed...15mins of fireworks fused together the only one failed at the end i was pissed...but my kids thought i was a rockstar for those 15 mins lol

Even my wife was impressed...she would kill me if she knew how much i spent lol

My father in law always goes all out with his brothers for the 4th. He’s in charge of the cookout and they do the fireworks. This year I think they spent right at 1500 on fireworks, was a good show plus someone across the lake put on a show before ours.

He did 50 whole chickens on the smoker and we all brought sides

We haven’t been able to do our normal bash in NC in a couple years. We’d do the same with about 1500 in fireworks all fused together.

I found a wholesale place in Ohio, waiting to hear back on bulk orders - up to 36% off. Figure we’d just let friends and coworkers order to hit whatever the $ is and get ours on the cheap. Turns out you don’t need a license or anything to buy

5 lost for this guy...
He had to leave his hand behind and the doctor's couldn't re-attach it. Gotta be careful and use common sense.

My niece's boyfriend bought a bunch of high end (EXPENSIVE) fireworks in Pennsylvania and they hosted a big 4th of July party yesterday. The fireworks were awesome and better than anything local, but some debris fell into their tree line and started a fire. Fortunately he had water handy and he and a couple of friends got it out before a major fire started.

Im about 3 years in on DIY firework show. I built 3 racks this year for the mortars and fused it all together with great success.....For not really having a clue what I'm doing it went well and I'm not half deaf the day after like the past 2 years. I'd say we had about $800 in fireworks between 2 of us and I always save the tubes to reuse. Next year I hope to fuse even more together and buy a little bit faster burning fuse. Really have come to enjoy it.

kind of a close one, my grandparents were always pretty anal about us not lighting shit off if the woods were dry, probably a good thing

the places we bought stuff from only ever had 2 types - the green slow fuse and the yellow fuse (which was pretty much instant). We figured out buying a shit ton of the tiny zip ties was a pretty quick/reliable way to connect it all. Lastly I ended up buying some pre-built mortar racks because it was made of the black tubing that won't become shrapnel if one goes off (couldnt find the stuff locally at the time)

Kinda under the fireworks category.
When we were kids we used to fire off model rockets.

My brother had a badminton birdie rocket that had lost the tip. I put a plastic Christmas wrapper tube on it with the "cone" being the flat cap that had the hook hanger tab still on it.

That rocket would go up and turn around and fly directly at us in a loop. It usually did two loops. The first time...ahem...we thought we were going to be killed as we saw it and our lives flash before our eyes.
Then we all agreed that we needed to do it again..

We were glad to be alive..several times.
That was the best damn rocket in the bunch.

What you did sounds pretty much identical to what my niece's boyfriend did. He mentioned that next year he wants to improve the fuse setup. I know the last rack fuse failed. He wants to ensure it doesn't happen next year.

we always pull the paper and everything off the tops because it makes for less cleanup in the yard, so we know that wasn't the problem. We had one 500gram cake that for whatever reason, none of them were making altitude, 1 story at best. We were just dodging these things raining down on us when we realized they were also hitting all around the big box full of extra mortars. We keep a lid over that box now

We stopped at Skyking in Tioga on Friday and the prices were nuts. $129 for a 16 shot NOVA 2 for 1. The place was packed and hot inside. They said they had a newer place 4 miles away. Folks around us had big displays Saturday and Sunday we did ours Monday. Just now cleaning up the mess it leaves behind. China did good this weekend.
