My son just purchased a GTR & MSRP on it was 111K.
Bought it around Miami.
It's the Black Edition & said 0-60 in 2.9Seconds.
That is quick but it is a all wheel drive.
That should be a great advantage over the shelby.

That's why I said from a dig the GTR will win.

From a roll- its lethargy, gearing, and co-efficient of drag equal to that of a bus will let the Shelby be the victor.

Its a different type of car, GTR is a world class sports car, the GT500 is a American Muscle car

Brother has a VERY mod GTR, I have a 2014 GT500, I buy American now days and I love the Shelby so far. Any mods to be done are much cheaper, many more options, I don't think you can ever go wrong with a Mustang

Yes I cannot understand why he went with a GTR,but his choice.
I'm from the old school I would say nothing like a American Muscle Car & rumble of a V8,from the rear end of it.

You got it right there, AWD traction.
Drag radials or stickier tires will be needed to keep up.
Congrats on the order!

You are somewhat correct.
From a dig it's a slaughter with a DBA car against a '13-'14 GT500. From a roll, the GT500's move out very hard. They are virtually equal to a C6 Z06 (assuming you get the car to hook in 2nd gear). I've posted my Vbox logs here and am listed on the 6speedonline list...my black '13 ran a 7.89 60-130. A '12-'14 GT-R will run a low-mid 9-second 60-130. From a roll against a '13, my '13 GT-R didn't fare so well. From a dig, it was ugly.

Also, the GT-R's have a very good coefficient of drag, note the following:
2009-2011 GT-R (there were very minor improvements to the DBA/'12 and up cars)
Cd 0.27
Frontal area 2.09 meters^2
CdA = 0.564

2007 Lamborghini Gallardo
Cd 0.34
Frontal area 1.95 meters^2
CdA = 0.663

2009-2011 GT-R
Cd 0.27
Frontal area 2.09 meters^2
CdA = 0.564

2011 Turbo and Turbo S Coupe
Cd 0.31
Frontal area 2.05 meters^2
CdA = 0.635

C6 Z06
Cd 0.34
Frontal area 2.07 meters^2
CdA = 0.703

Veyron
Cd 0.36
Frontal area 2.07 meters^2
CdA = 0.745

And also, I'm very skeptical of these claims of '13/'14 GT-R's running 127-128 mph trap speeds. I suspect at the very least, there are timing errors at the track. When compared to my passes and other stock '13's they run similiar to the 1/8th, cover the next 660' in very comparible intervals, but trap 3-4 mph faster. That's not happening in a stock car.

I think this is Definately a question for Snorman, can't find a better person with experience like him from both cars.

100K vs 50K... The orange-to-apple comparisons continue. Walking GTRs from a roll! I like to do runs on the highway, keeps the car healthier than all that wear and tear from a dig.

I'm cool with those results. :beer:
I think it's foolish to expect a standard RWD car to hang anywhere close to an AWD from a dig without any sort of traction improvement. Even the WRX and EVO's can be problematic in a stoplight to stoplight scenario and they can be hundreds of horsepower less. The value of traction is pretty well known to most people, I'd hope.

I'd like to see a GTR run at a track where the GT500 is ironed out properly. I'm not sure what it would look like but I would imagine some of these guys pulling 1.5 short times on proper tires would put up a nice fight. Personally I'm impressed at the GTR for being built to handle the hard launches with the AWD.

Definitely listen to Snorman, very lucky guy to have both.
I love all high HP rides, just partial to Mustangs as that's where I come from.

Snor---let's hear what makes you choose the keys of one vs. the other on any given day? i.e.--what situation do you prefer one over the other--drag strip, road course, nice evening out with the lady?
Just curious as you have a very unique perspective, I'm sure there's not too many guys out there with both, both with mods and both driven competently on track.
Lucky dog. :)

I do know this, the gt-r is very fast on the track (road coarse), a fellow member here with no disregard for punishment to GT500 stayed with the R for 2 or 3 laps til his stock brakes faded out... had to let him go out of site. But damn, let us put in another 40k in our 500 and its over for the R.
