No point in this comparo. Why handicap a car (Demon)? Run them both in their best trim, the way the are supplied from the OEM.

this is about as retarded as comparing the 500 and the redeye, but asking the 500 to run in 275 width PZeros. Lmaooo!

The 65,000 question is whether or not the rain tray was installed ;-)

So I have a question here and I'm not being a smart ass, I legitimately want your honest opinion.

The Demon does not come with the items in the crate, but Dodge "sells" them to you for $1. This is not the time to debate whether that counts as stock or not, but consider this.
By that same logic, you could have a base 5.0, buy a Ford Racing supercharger, installed at a Ford Racing dealer, that maintains your Ford warranty and have a substantially faster car, but still "in it's best trim, the way it is supplied from the OEM."

I'm using hyperbole a bit here, but you cannot deny the contents of the crate make a substantial impact in the Demon's performance.

And Dodge stated that very clearly from the get-go, and only Demon buyers could purchase the items for a damn dollar. They would have included that with the car if they didn't fear getting thrown in jail over it.

For an OEM to have the balls to skirt all the ultra complicated laws and regulations, and even offer something like that in the 21st century, facing potentially endless liability is freaking amazing.

not the same thing, papa. Not even close.

dodge crate is part of the car as supplied by dodge. It “sells” for $1 in order to get by laws / liabilities and regulations.

Ford racing supercharger is a modification on a 5.0. You will buy it for several thousands of $$$, then pay more $$$ to have it installed and tooned. You then won’t have a full warranty anymore.

It certainly is the same, the price of the crate is just included in the price of the Demon, the $1 is a formality. You certainly can buy a "factory" supercharged 5.0 with a Ford Racing tune and a Ford warranty, so is it fair for me to say that is the end all be all of 5.0 1/4 times and anything without that supercharger should be ignored because its being handicapped?

You seem to be under the impression that the Demon is only the Demon when the crate is equipped, and is in a "detuned" version when not using the crate items. Sorry, but I think just about everyone sees it the other way around.

    not the same.

exactly. You said it yourself. The price of the crate IS already included in the price of the Demon (from Dodge), the $1 is merely a formality. This further supports the idea that the crate IS part of the car.

Asking Demons not to use their crate, would be as stupid as asking 350R owners to take off their CF wheels, R compound tires and downforce pieces. It would still be a 350R, right? Lol

you certainly cannot but a factory supercharged 5.0. What you are describing is the purchasing of a 5.0 with a dealer added Ford Performance part after the fact. You definitely would not have an intact FoMoCo warranty. What you would have is a limited warranty from the dealer that you purchased from.

Most everyone that is not biased towards Ford, understands this to be so.

Says right here you register your warranty directly with Ford Performance, but I can see your mind is made up either way so this is a pointless discussion. As they roll off the showroom floor a Demon is not a full second faster than a GT500, that much at least is indisputable.

As they roll off the truck from the factory, the R does not have its aero pieces installed. What is your point?

The old technology and now discontinued Dodge Demon is a FULL second faster than new and not even out yet Ford Shelby 500. Let that sink in.

Not really the same logic since the crate stuff is essentially free at $1 but I don't think a Ford Racing blower is gonna make it faster than the Demon tho. Maybe a VMP or big Whipple but not a factory blower from Ford putting out maybe 650 whp.

Don't confuse my example, I never said a supercharged 5.0 is faster than a Demon. I said a supercharged 5.0 is faster than an NA 5.0, and since you can have Ford do all the work and maintain your warranty, why are we not quoting those numbers as what a 5.0 runs in the 1/4?

Like I said, its hyperbole, but I'm pointing out that the earlier comment that the Demons running without the crate are running "handicapped" is a bit silly.

Ok, lets do it this way then. 9.6 / 10.6 is means the Demon is right at 10% faster in the 1/4 with the crate installed, assuming you can match the hero run . You think a demon will be within 10% of a GT500 time at a road course? I'll bet you a large sum of money it wont be, and let that sink in on what the superior vehicle actually is. Better yet, let the Demon roll right off the drag strip to the road course, like the GT500 would, and try to take a turn with skinnies on lol...

Here, I'll even save you the trouble of having to write your own response: "Whatever man, no one cares about the road course." ok.

“Ford” does not do all the work, nor does it offer the same warranty as an unmolested vehicle. If you refer to the photo you cut and pasted, you will see that.

    “Limited warranty”

    “parts purchased from authorized distributor”

“installed by an ASE certified technician”

Never argued the fact that the 500 will OBLITERATE the Demon in the road course.

    superior vehicle is subjective.

    superior to many would be:

    - specialty vehicle that is severely restricted and limited production with low numbers.
    - able to go cross country with your whole family, comfortably.
    - faster in the street/strip.
    - tougher drivetrain.
    - easier and less expensive to maintain and service.
    - easier to drive and live with every day.

wrong man, I care about the road course.

    I’ll give you this voltwing,

The 500 is the best drivers’ car. From a performance stand point, it is the most well rounded muscle car.

The Demon is the KING of the 1/4 and the more special muscle car.

It's cool that a showroom stock road course car is running as quick as a showroom stock straight line car.

Running 10s is not 9s, papi.

I know it seems “as quick”, but it’s really not.

Rather have a 2 dimensional car vs the over priced over weight 1 dimensional car. Lets let that sink in ladies
