For those that love a good base model TRUCK

Recently flew up to Sacramento and drove this beauty home 500+ miles. It's a 94 2wd half ton with the venerable NV4500 (bomb-proof granny low manual with 27% overdrive) behind a non-turbo 6.5 diesel. Rear end has 3.08s which produce great mileage.

I filled up the tank in Sac and drove straight down the 5 to SoCal on a single tank of fuel! I filled back up at a local Chevron close to home and she took 19.34 gallons with 517 total miles traveled. Damn thing averaged almost 27 mpg on the trip home!

I know it's not everyone's cup of tea (by a long shot LOL) but I friggin love this damn thing!

Once I get tired of this old girl and sell her, I'm going to begin the hunt for a 4.9 l6 with a manual in an F150 or Bronco.

MPG surprised me as well.
