I see these nonstop in AZ.

But I'll tell you.. you can NOT go to ANY intersection without seeing multiple Teslas out here.

I was in Orange County a couple of weeks ago and ai have never seen so many cybertrucks. I saw three of them at a stoplight at one time. So gay.

It's have been fine except for the whole towing thing

A local electrical company has a couple of them

Just not sure how management thought they would sell these things...people in charge need to go.

Seems The government pretty much told them to make these or else.
Thats why all the top brass at these companies need to go. Ford would not have folded like a cheap tent to the government back in the day. And whoever is in charge of naming vehicles at Ford should be fired to the moon. That 4 door taxi is not a Mustang and this truck was never a Lightning.

Aside from the dismal range and fire hazards that come with EVS, the biggest issue is time. Time is something you cannot buy, produce, and is limited for all of us. When I stop to fuel up my RAM 2500, I can top off, grab a drink, and get on the road in a few mins. Meanwhile EV owners are sitting there long after I am gone. For that reason alone I would not own one if you gave it to me for free. I worked with a guy that had a Tesla. One hot summer day his car expended most of his range to keep the batteries cool. He found a bank of Tesla chargers. There were dozens of EVS there. The chargers overheated and all of them were stranded. They had to wait until dark for the chargers to cool down, etc. Dude sold that Tesla the next day. EVs make zero sense to me. I hope they all go away forever.

I see people just sitting at the local Telsa charger, plugged in, scrolling on their phones all the time. At least they're getting more screen time.

I think about what would happen if you had to haul ass some distance due to an emergency or natural disaster. You are not doing that in an EV. At least you would perish knowing you helped save the planet with your massive lithium battery that was mined using machines powered by fossil fuels, and your earth saving EV charges via electricity produced by oil and gas.

To be fair, the truck would have made the camping trip just fine had you planned ahead and fully charged it but I agree that EV trucks don't really make sense as an actual truck. Two guys I race with have EV trucks and it takes them 2-3x as long to get to an out of state event because of charge times and weird routes based around charging stations. They're often adding in an overnight stop to charge, that's just dumb.

Now lets be real, truck's have primarily become a fashion accessory and I'd bet over half the truck drivers would be just fine in a sedan but they like the image of a truck. I don't think the Lightning failed on it's merits because for most users they're irrelevant. It failed on image, and Ford killed it when the subsidies stopped.

Needing 100% battery capacity to barely make a 60'ish mile overnight round trip with a small camper in tow really doesn't make it look that much better.

The only one I personally know with one is some dweeb that works in IT, him and his purple hair wife also have a Mach e, solar panels and batteries on their house

I’ve had several people ask if I’m gonna trade my truck on a Lightning - I just laugh and tell em I have zero interest in that piece of shit
When I was in the engineering department I worked with a couple Tesla fanboys. One of them asked me if I was going to trade my F250 for one. Before I could answer another guy piped up with "Why? He already has a real truck ". I died laughing.

I just saw a Cybertruck today on I-91. I will never understand why Musk designed such an ugly EV. Not that most Teslas are good looking, but the Cybertruck is butt ugly, looking more like a backyard creation with a leftover plywood. It makes the Pontiac Aztec and Volkswagen Thing look beautiful by comparison.

Good news that the Lightning is killed off. Smart actually.

Ford is NOT the leader nor even close to the top anymore. Even their ICE engine vehicles have more recalls than any other brand.

To try and compete in a market that's dominated by one brand is foolish. They were forced to do it and I feel bad for them. That was the main problem.

As far as Tesla is concerned, they are miles and years ahead of Ford and Ford will never catch up. They need to stick to what they were good at and market that.

Passenger EV's are not good at towing. That's not really news. I would say this, 98% of the trucks on the road NEVER tow a thing! Ever! They are Mall Crawlers at best. So it could work for the majority. What people buy is the "Idea". I could go off roading, tow a boat, go camping, climb a mountain, etc... Yet 98% will never do any of those things. But it's the "Idea" they are sold on that makes them feel better. Most will never admit it because they are too narrow minded. "I will go camping in the mountains one day!" LMAO No you won't.

I do like your honest review and pointing out the good things they did right. They should take those and focus on using what they know. But it's not always easy when you are being forced to do what you know will fail and try and convince the public it will work for everyone.

I encourage you to go and drive a Cybertruck. I did for the fun of it one day and it changed my perspective on it. Would I buy one? Nope. Is it ugly as sin? Yep. Does it HAUL ASS? Yep! Way faster than I imagined and way more comfortable. Does NOT drive like a truck. More like a luxury vehicle. I think both the F-150 and Cybertruck would be cool for the simple fact that they could power your house during an outage. That's a neat idea that I like. Still not enough for me to buy either one. But I can see past the ugly to see what they are doing and can build on the tech and whatnot. The Full Self Driving is an absolute Game Changer! I did not think I would like it at ALL, but I can see where this will be useful in the future. The 48 Volt system and drive by wire is something they did very well and not many have been able to accomplish. I'm sure there will be more of these advancements in the future. I'm just glad someone is willing to push the envelope.

It'll be interesting to see if other manufacturers jump on the 48V architecture in the future. Everyone is already trying to catch up to giga-castings.

Ford can't stop shooting it's own dick into a puddle of sausage pudding.

- Cancels cars and raises prices so they have no entry level cars.

-Edit: Ford slightly 'miscalculates' the EV market and writes off $19.5 B (yes, billion) dollars.

- They have the highest recall rates in history of the industry.

- They phoned in their design language during Covid. It's cheap looking, like a KIA.

- They rust when you drive by an Olive Garden.

- Eco boost with the internal water pumps... Cripes, what were they thinking? They trying to be Audi?

I've been a Ford guy, having all Ford's at one point. If only the smiles per gallon weren't so high on my GT350, I would sell it too. Soon enough, but not now. After far too much of the above shit, I don't buy Ford's anymore. They have nothing I want any longer. All my kids have purchased brand new Honda's. Ford has nothing in their price range and also nothing that they want. My boys want a V8 + 6M and dislike far too much about the S650 styling and quality for their money, when the Honda's will hold their value longer and last 350,000 miles.

With all the modules and added electronics on just about every new vehicle, I see no reason it won't at least go to a 24V system. We have to remember the early days of the Automobile when the cars ran on 6 Volt systems. When that was no longer enough, they switched to 12 volts and have been that way ever since. It's caught up now and the vehicles today have way more electronics that need more. Class 8 trucks are already making the switch to 24 Volt.

One big benefit with increased voltage, it less size wiring is needed. Power (Watts) = Voltage (Volts) x Current (Amps), so if power stays the same and voltage goes up, current must come down.

I also find it funny how many people say that steer-by-wire doesn't work. Guess they have never flown in a commercial airplane before.

Just like Drive-By-Wire for the Throttle. Show me how many NEW cars/trucks today that have a mechanical cable going to the throttle body? None.

I think it's amazing how far the comfort of the trucks have really come. Makes me wonder what they will be like in the next 20 years.

The sheer amount of recalls on my girlfriends 2022 Bronco. We just got 3 fixed, the mechanic said.. " there's another one for the BCM coming in a couple months.. it'll likely involve having to bring the vehicle to the dealership"
