White House takes new look at federal gas tax holiday

The White House is showing signs that it is more seriously considering a federal gas tax holiday, sources tell The Hill.
President Biden’s economic team has discussed the gas tax holiday recently and is expected to meet later this week for further talks.
The White House is under political pressure to do something to provide relief to Americans dealing with high inflation and rising gas prices. The economic storm has created serious headwinds for Democrats ahead of the midterms, where the party is worried about a shellacking.
“It’s definitely an option on the table,” said one Democrat close to the White House.
Suspending the federal gas tax would require an act of Congress, but a public push by Biden in favor of the policy could help spur action on Capitol Hill.

0.184 dollars a gallon in savings for gas. Aka brings back the last week prices lol

All the while increasing deficit spending and thus exacerbating the inflation issue.

^^This.

It's as if this administration has never studied or understood basic economics. Or, maybe it's because it's intentional.

Federal and State fuel tax on diesel here is over .75/gal. Getting rid of that temporarily is just pissing in the wind when you consider prices have risen $2-3 in the last year.

FJB and the rest of his commie crew.

Your government is lying to you

tanker of diesel was 5.32 for today, trending up .15 around 10:30 this morning. Gas was trending up .08. Most stations around here are high 4.70s for 87

if they do a tax holiday on fuel I bet the base price on fuel just runs up in anticipation of demand the "savings" is basically washed out. On the off chance that tax holiday applies to businesses and could be caught in a price dip I'd probably buy several loads.

the only "good" thing about the high prices is that means we're paying more state taxes on fuel and on our fuel tax refund for the year will be bigger but it certainly doesn't even out

Time to get those E-85 sensor's and tunes

E85 cost the same as 87 where I live.

E85 is more than 92 here
$ 2.99 now for E85, nearly doubled from March '21 (first 2 pictures topping off the mustang back then) but still testing at 85%.

I Tried E30 on the Z4 (with a tune) and while it runs good, it kills mpg by >20%. Stock fuel system has a limit of ~e50 (Low pressure fuel pump is the limiting factor)

I spent $66 to fill up a little Z4/E89 Friday. Prices are the same today, which is odd as Tuesday is often when it jumps.

The spread between grades has been ~ 25c the past decade (before it was just 10c)
Kwik Shop is trying push that further with 91 being 60c more than 87 at $5.19

Many of the signs are having trouble. Some have been turned off since we passed $4

Just paid $6.40 for 91 in Phoenix. This is the last day driving the V now that the recall work on the Volt is done. If it continued any longer I needed a third job.

There's a 7-11 I drive by pretty much every day. On Sunday 91 was $6.19. Then yesterday morning it was $6.59.

I haven't bought E85 in a couple weeks. Last time I paid $3.69 for it. I saw someone I know posted $4.29 on Instagram last week.

That gas tax holiday is a bunch of ****ing bullshit. It’s a way to deflect and make people feel like they’re saving money.

I don't think Biden runs. He won't win. He's unpopular amongst even the leftist of the left.
But trump's lost a lot of the center voters.
I vote right and I won't vote for him. I didn't in 20 either. But I did in 2016.

Rofl.

How many times do I have to say I didn't vote for Biden. I didn't want him in office. I don't approve of him. It's possible to dislike trump and Biden and want what's good for this country.

You threw your vote away. Are you completely ignorant to how our system works?

Come on man.
