Fun things to do in Virginia beach this time of year?

Hey everyone,
I'm going to be making a drive down to Virginia beach soon. Leaving on the 15th of this month and staying down there for a week. Staying with a friend who just moved down there and she's not very familiar with the area either. Wondering what everyone recommends for fun stuff to do well I'm there. Considering moving into the area, so I want to scope it all out over the course of the week.

What do you consider fun? You can head down to the oceanfront and bar/club hop if that's your thing. There are a handful of zoo's/aquariums. Honestly, after living there for quite awhile it's a pretty stale area. Most people just want to go there for the beaches.
