wow , I knew the 00 cobra R t56 had 2.94 first ratio and I had a 2005 GTO with T56 2.94 as well. Didn’t think Tremec built T56 with a different ratio , unless you did the Magnum. 2.66 is a real dog of a ratio!
That little PD blower adds a lot of torque. You don't notice it really. One of the best mods I did was swapping to the T-56 in my 01. The gear spacing is a lot better in the 6 speed. Made the car better to drive.

3650 is also a 3.37 first gear. T56 in terminator is 2.94 first. Car revs to 6700 rpm, even with the shorter 1st gear when N/A on stock height tires it’s fine with 4.56, 4.30.
Start running more power like boost go from stock height tire 25.5 to 27 or 28 to tame the gear. No reason to swap gears or run anything less

Almost positive all t56’s are 2.66

Is anybody happy with the stock 327 gears? I just bought my 01 and it has 373 gears swapped into it without correcting the speedometer. I'm torn between spending $400 on a Bama tuner to correct the speedo, or put $$ towards going back to 327s. I'm in Maine where the highway speed limit is 75mph and they leave you alone (for the most part;) if you keep it under 90. I kinda miss the days of my 86 notchback with 273 gears and really being able to stretch its legs! I love a good highway gear, but a lot of people seam to like the 410, 430, etc.

The 373’s are a great all around gear. I had them then went 410’s with an 18 in. X 101/2 wide tire. The 410’s are nice N/A but now that I put a procharger on I kinda wish I would’ve stayed with the 373’s especially with the t56 6 speed transmission swap. Idk I’d say stay with the 373 they have enough low end pep and decent highway drivability. 75 to 80 will put you around 2200-2300 rpm with stock tires. Besides by the time you reinstall gears you could be in a sct x4 and a custom dyno tune to go with it.

Does forscan work on these cars? I would check that before buying a tuner just for that. If it does work all you'd need is a $30 obd2 hookup to use with a laptop

I liked my 3.27's in my 01. If I needed to get somewhere quicker I just dropped it a gear and went. I cruise a lot in the 80mph range too. Only "downside" was first was pretty long when I went to the T-56. Made dealing with traffic a bit of a pain. When I went to the 3.90's the car woke up. Well, as much as a 650+hp car can wake up with new gears. It was fun, but on the freeway I wanted a slightly taller gear.

You can't really compare this to your fox though. There's a lot more RPM to use with the 4V. Cruising at 2500-2700rpm really isn't a big deal for these cars.

FORScan "works" but it is extremely limited in what it can see and do. There are no PIDs to look at and reconfigure like I can with my 2016 F150. There are a few self-tests you can run. I actually ran the ABS and GEM self-tests to see if they work, and they do. You can read DTCs and clear them, which I did as well. If you run the ABS self-test with the park brake engaged, you will get a DTC. No way to change speedometer calibration.

If you're not sure about the blower down the road I'd go 4.10's now. Depending on the power level they can be made to work with some suspension work and good tires.

I had 3.90's in my 01 with T-56 and a decent amount of power. They were fun. But I hated them at freeway speeds. Mostly because they put the cruising RPM right where my BOV made the most noise.
I know this was a while ago but what gear did your t56 have in it. I’m putting a 2.66 first gear t56 in mine with 410’s in the rear end. Hoping it won’t be too much.

It was a stock T-56. So it had the 2.66 first gear. If I had kept that car I would have either gone to 3.55's or swapped in a Viper 5th and 6th.

Not sure what ratio that is but the one I have has a .80 5th and .63 6th gear.

The Viper 6th is .50. I don't remember what 5th was. But that 6th gear would have made the car nicer on the freeway. I had a big bore set up so it could have lived at the lower cruise RPM.
