GM Dropping Holden

Yup - it's a great shame that Holden is closing here. The Australian made cars were pretty good - the original Holdens were ok and the hot versions had 327 and 350 Chevy drive trains however Holden eventually designed and released a 308 and 253 small-block V8 - not bad and was the mainstay for years and competed against the locally designed and manufactured 351 2v/4V and 302 2V Clevelands.
Holden released the Monaro in the US as the Pontiac GTO with LS-1 and LS-2 (IIRC) which was a great day for local pride - that was an ok car!
When Holden released the VE series in the late noughties, it was a great looking car with LS-X drivetrains, and Holden sold them in the US as the Chevy Caprice police car and the Chevy SS.
Nice cars, and a shame to see them go, and a non-factory RHD Camaro (they are converted to RHD here by a local boutique factory) and sold at a premium, but they cannot compete with the factory RHD Mustang which is selling well here and 90% are V8 and local hot and S/C versions are available.
Ford wins. Again. Shame about the V8-Supercars series though, lots of questions over our tin-top V8 racing series.
