I’ve had a 13 Boss and A 13 GT500. I do Miss the TR6060 and torque the 5.8 made! But several Boss guys have made over 1000 and 900 is the regular on the stock engine as thy come with Mahle pistons from the factory. so mine will eventually get a front feed 2.9 Whipple

The boss isn’t as nose heavy as the GT500 and it handles amazingly when you put the shocks on setting 5. GT500 could do pretty damn well in corners too though.

In conclusion if you’re going to leave it relatively stock I vote GT500. A basic trinity swap and exhaust would make a 11/12 perfect. A Boss has a very capable motor that could really be put to use should you so desire

EDIT..99.9% of Bosses have Recaros too, which is nice because when I wanted a GT500 I really had to hunt for them.

All year GT500s came with Mahle pistons, 11+ Seemed to get really solid pistons. All GT500's came with powederd metal "forged" connecting rods.

13-14, the biggest risk in the engine is the connecting rods. Weaker design compared to the 11-12 to accommodate a stronger piston design. There is a taper at the top of the small end of the connecting rod.

Boss Road Runner engines were designed for repeated and abusive high rev road course racing. The engine components are extremely robust to handle the abuse. Of course makes it perfect for boost. Downside is you have to buy everything to install a PD blower, or even a centri blower. Turbos.... there always turbos...

Why would anybody do that?? Just put a bigger blower on the '11/'12. Don't let that 5.8 designation fool you. The Trinity engine is just a very mildly "updated" version of the '11/'12 5.4.

I totally agree, I’m going all out with my Boss (Whipple, E85, TR6060 etc) but a lot of GT500 owners don’t seem to mod a lot.

To elaborate: 13-14 Owners dont mod much. 07-12 Seems to be where its at if you like to party.

Yep. When people come on here and ask about buying a '13/'14 versus an '11/'12, I tell them all the time that, unless they really want the gimmickry, it doesn't make sense to pay the premium over the '11/'12. In the end, though, they always end up going for the '13/'14 because 662 horse powazzzzz! A simple pulley swap on a stock '11/'12 will get you most of the way to that, and you've saved upwards of $10K in the process.
