Just had my new springs installed. Knew it would be a 1.5-1.75 drop. Ended up with well over 2 inches (more like 2.5-3). My front wheels now rub at any hint of a bump in the road. Anyone ever had any problems with these springs before? They had exceptionally strong ratings on AM. In addition my Magnaflow Tru x pipe w/ cats has only about 4-5 inches ground clearance. Not sure if I could make it anymore plush with the car... Bad weekend to say the least.

yes those are good springs so there shouldnt be any problems? Did u position the springs correctly? Also are u still running iso's in the front?

I just purchased a set myself and was going to start the install this week. I will be interested in what you find out.

i have 18x9 rims and mine rub on serious bumps on the road and also many driveways. I have yet to go over a speedbump but am terrified to. But i was afraid it would not lower it enough so I am very please with the way they sit. Although my back looks even lower than the front

just so you know on their website it says the SS springs havean average drop of 1.75-2.3 inches. Maybe u need to trade someone for their sport springs

H&R is very good about giving very close to advertised drops.

As mentioned above, post some pics.

I don't think it going to lower my 97 much more then it is now, I am just hoping they give a better ride then the hard race springs I have in it now. I have to watch entries of drives and speed bumbs so I am use to that.

Between the koni's and these springs, you can't push the front down when you press on the fenders.

    Current ride height:

Certainly not the first time someone found the H&R SS drop to be too much and it's not even Terminator engine weight.(Iron block + S/C, I/C, H/E and extra coolant).

H&R is a great choice, but seems people have the best results with the H&R race springs, at least on the Terminator end of the SN95 scale.

Coil overs are big money but if you are serious about improving the ride without killing the handling, they are still the best option.

Ride and handling will both improve. Unless you go nuts with the spring rate.

Is this a 4.6 SN95 or a 5.0? The springs are different and the 5.0 springs if received by mistake would drop more with the heavier DOHC 4.6.

Sorry guys didn't have a chance to take pictures last night, work has been crazy busy. This is a 97 cobra, so the dohc 4.6. I am very disappointed with the drop. I may look into going with the race springs by H&R like you suggested. How are the Ford Racing B & C?

Did you actually measure the drop? 3" would be tucking the tires in the fender...

Its exceptionally close. Like I said when I am say going up a moderate hill (not even a big one) my front tires will rub (I can see the marks and I can hear them hit the fender). Pictures coming tonight.

Unfortunately if by some chance I ended up w/ the 94-95 springs in a 96-98 box I don't know how I could even prove it to H&R or to AM. This whole thing is turning into a fiasco. On the bright side, I can always spend more time and money fixing it.

I don't see how that's possible. I have a lower drop than that and Bilstein struts and I have no issues with driveways.

These springs are not H&R SS springs, they are what ever the orginal owner put in it and he got them from somebody that setups track cars.

There are several driveways in my area that I wouldn't even attempt. If the grade is normal there are no problems at the current hieght. I have went over a speed bumbs in a local business that dragged so much that I felt the shifter move and that was driving over it at an angle.

I drove in a local oil change place because I didn't feel like changing the oil myself and couldn't get over the pit due to the metal blocking the pit was to high and I dragged it.

The long awaited pictures.. With some measurements. Be sure to check out how close my cats are to the floor. That is a Magnaflow Tru X and Magnapacks. 2 inch clearance max. Also notice the awesome tire marks left in my fender wells. IMG_1572-1.gif

Maybe I am completely wrong and this is just how they are supposed to be. Is this what an advertised Estimated Drop: Front - 1.75” Rear - 1.6” looks like? These were bought from AM recently and they were just installed WITH new isolators on both front and rear.

    Looks pretty normal to me.

This is how mine sat with stock wheels and H&R SuperSports.

And to be fair, it looks like the Magnaflow X hangs pretty to begin with.
