I am looking at a GT500 with a whipple. The dealer knows nothing about it. Can anyone help me identify anything they see under the hood based on these pics? I had a whipple on my Terminator but know nothing about this. It's 4 hours away and I rather not drive down for a car that's had this blower on for 30k+ miles

Blower swaps are pretty common on GT-500s (and Terminators). I'd be more concerned about the general overall condition of this GT-500. I totally understand why you're asking the question, though. If you think you're liking this one, make the 4 hour drive to check the car out thoroughly.

There is a part number on the billet piece if you zoom in. Maybe that will tell you.

“260WP1.6-3859” I think is what it says….could be meaningless but could be the number you need to identify the blower.

OP, I’m not 100% certain but probably 90-95% certain that’s a 3.4L with the Crusher intake. The 2.9L has a different bolt configuration across the top / front (one less bolt, 3 vs 4), and also doesn’t have additional material in the casting around the top / front bolts like this one. The intake from TB to rear if the blower appears to be a Crusher vs the original / non-Crusher intake.

Perhaps others will chime in confirming or disputing my input.

Let us know what you wind up doing. Good luck!

EDIT - An additional observation further reinforcing my thought this is a 3.4… The 4.0 is very similar to the 3.4 but I believe is longer. The 4.0 looks to have 13 “ribs” in the case vs 11 for the 3.4. This unit appears to be shorter with the 11 ribs.

I also see evidence of a return style fuel system.

OP, If this car has 30K miles with the blower, I’d give it a very thorough pre purchase inspection... Actually, I’d pass on it and buy a stock one to mod myself :)

Thanks so much for taking a look at it for me. How old would you estimate that blower is ? The carafax shows that most of the miles came in the last 2-3 years so if this is not a newer blower than someone has been having some fun for a while which is concerning obviously

I’ve got nearly 20k miles on my 03 with a 2.9 Whipple.

Half of those on @20psi and E85.

I’d hop in it and drive across the country tomorrow. Well after some new DR come in.

Is the price comparable to a stock car or are you paying for the mods?

The blower, injectors, return style fuel system (if legit) cost way more than a simple overhaul of the engine, so that’s worst case scenario.

Have them do a compression test and leak down if you’re worried. Neither of those issues are specific to having an aftermarket blower either.

If I’m buying a car to modify and I find one with the setup I’d do anyways, no brainer as long as it’s not clapped out.
