OK I found out how to cut the hoodliner so that is solved.
However I still read mixed opinions on removing the hood liner. Some say yes and some say no.

Personally, I kept my hoodliner, and cut it out.
Besides, if the belt breaks, it protects the hood from damage.

I cut mine out also and used flexible trim from McMaster Carr around the edges. It came out really good.
IMO I think doing the cutouts look horrible. If your going to go through with it, just remove it. You will not regret it!
