Hosting Account Selection Help

Hey guys,

I know this might be wrong forum to post this but with all the picture gurus and since my page is all about pix... what the hell here it goes:

I have just about had it with my current hosting company on svtregistry.com the customer service is non-existant, I've been waiting for over a month to add some space to the plan and so far haven't gotten even a courtesy response. Total bull.

I'm now paying $18 a year for 250MB storage and 15GB transfer, I know before you even say: you get what you paid for.. but this needs to change.

I'm thinking of moving to 1&1 hosting I know some sites that run on it and it seems reasonably cheap and reliable. Anyone care to make any other suggestions?

PS. I don't need any fancy features as so far I'm building a very static site so all I need is physical storage but I figure most packages come as bundles. Just need help choosing the best one.

I bought my own web adress through smallbusiness.yahoo.com, pay $14/mo for it, I think it's 10gb space and some huge amount of traffic/mo, which I never use. Only thing I have to complain about is the largest file you can upload is 5mb. I use it only for pics so I don't mind, but for someone making movies or something it would be a PITA.

since 2001 I used to laugh at the companies I worked for seeing how they shelled out $30 to 50 bux a month for web hosting. I used to use joako.net and paid $18 a YEAR!

well after losing a web site to namezero.com because I refused to pay $30+ to renew a domain where everyone else changes a mere $8 to $9 bux and unable to get it back I started being real careful who I deal with. This was especially evident in the case of svtregistry.com and joako.net who farmed out the registrar funcitons to Enom... after a month of useless stress I decided switching to a reputable company like 1and1.com and paying $9.99 a month for hosting with free domain renewals was the way to go.


one less thing I have to worry about.
