All ancillaries are basically same cost, and F150 5.0s aren’t much more than LS. The stock Ford 6R is a deep 9s trans with zero mods. So you far ahead with a stock trans. Take a 5.0/6R from an F150, use factory ECU and add boost, and any light Fox can go 9s pretty easily. Other than OPGs, Coyotes need nothing for 800hp.
Other than the price of the longblock, there’s not much different with 5.0/5.3

It’s so much more than that, if they’re being honest. And anything can hold together for one run, it all goes back to a few true words:
    1) you have to pay to play
    2) fast, cheap, reliable—you can only pick two
Both the LS and Coyote are great platforms, as is the Gen III Hemi as we are truly in the real golden age of power.

My only reason for wanting the LS is the sound. You just can't make a mod motor sound like a push rod motor and the Fox was a push rod sounding motor.

I have my dream fox body. After owning dozens and dozens, I found my first mustang and bought it back approximately 10 years ago. I bought this, my first fox body originally in 1994 and it's a 1988 model. Since buying it back, I then commenced to build it up with my favorite elements from my prior builds all in this car. It's MY perfect fox body........my original car with sentimental value, and all my favorite mechanicals...

Teksid block 5.0 stroker at 10.5:1 and cams
2.3 whipple turned all the way up
T56 magnum and McLeod Twin Disk
AC, power steering, stock interior, radio, etc.
Completely stock body with 2" cowl hood

The drivability is like a stock car and to say the power comes on instantly....well that is an understatement...:)

What does everybody think about interior mods, stock or modified? Maybe a cross with an 03/04 dash and console and door panels and custom seats?

I am a fan of the SN95 interior in the foxes.
You gotta do the whole deal though. Door panels, rear seat etc.

What about doing the seats in a custom design, without going too crazy? Do the SN95 dash, door panels, and console and do the seats in maybe a suede and smooth leather combo front and back?

For me, I like it to look OEM. If you can pull that off, I say go for it.
It needs to look like it belongs there.

I’m going to use the ‘03-04 Cobra covers on the Fox seats. Otherwise pretty stock ‘93 Cobra exterior and interior.

Estimating 8-900whp with moderate boost. Should be scary!

I am assuming that helps with tire clearance on the outside? If so, do you know yet how wide of a tire you can run without rubbing on the outside?

The SN95 spindles? They give a sealed bearing, improved geometry and most importantly a large selection of 5 lug brakes.
    I’ve ran a 255/40/17 on 17x9s with rack limiters.
My current ‘93 Cobra has the same spindles with ‘03 Anniversary Cobra brakes and 245/45/17s on 17x8.
The new version will likely have a 255 and 18x9s
