I am thinking of going retro and getting rid of my GT350 and go back to my very first
mustang.... a Fox body 1988 GT .... found one that is immaculate with 12500 almost all original less headers .... and some other things.

This is a hatchback black with grey cloth manual tranny

I dont want to over pay way over for the car but what is a range that this car is worth so I dont get taken to the cleaners ......

The car isnt all original .... headers and a gear swap are the biggies

If it was 100% original it might be worth that but I just dont know the values of these cars

HELP !!!

I’d say 12-14k But that’s me 15k being top dollar. It’s not a mass air car either unless it’s a California car.

Nice looking Fox. Does the A/C work? How old are those tires? If you are going to put some miles on it then I'd stay away and find one for significantly less money that has been used more regularly, but still been cared for. With 12k miles in 30 years it will likely be somewhat arthritic and need gone through - all fluids - flex lines - belts and hoses - shocks - etc. If you need emissions have the cats been eliminated? ( guessing yes since the headers ) If so does it come with the factory catted H-pipe? If you will rarely drive it then it sure seems like a beautiful example. Good luck!

Very good point that I hadnt thought of .... the "arthritic" statement hit home and maybe I should be looking for a 30000 mile car that has been driven some and alot less money ..... $10,000 - $15000 range

thanks !!

Another car I would consider is the 1993 Cobra. I know they are rare.

Found a black one with a blower on very tastefully done in Ill. for $24800 asking price. Miles are 50k on the odometer. I hate though buying someones else's mods
But if done right you save a ton of money! !! !!

That IS a nice looking Fox! I've always loved the stying of those older GTs/Cobras.

When I shopped for three years and bought a pristine 58K mile '92 5.0 LX 5 speed vert in 2014 for $7500 I noticed that the really low mileage examples with "premium prices" tended to sit on the market a very long time.

The coupes (not hatchbacks), however, are the exception to that, if you can ever find one.
