I plan on doing the gasket and I also plan on removing all the carpet and install sound deadeding material. Hate all the noise coming from the transmission.

Just to clear something up, aftermarket billet shifters will increase the level of noise making its way into the cabin compared to the stock shifter. The billet shifter better conducts sound. But my shifter base gasket helps to block much of the noise that otherwise would travel through the shifter into the cabin. The thicker material I've been using increased the sound insulation quality of the gasket. That said, every car is different. Some transmissions are noisier than others, hence more noise entering the cabin. In most cases, the noise reduction is very noticeable. In extreme cases, you might want to go so far as to use sound insulating material inside the shifter boot. I've never heard of anyone taking the extreme step of adding more floor insulation, but if you need to, why not.

No need to apologize, my friend. Busy time of year. I know first hand. It was nice talking to you on the phone. I hope you took a decent dent out of your Christmas shopping. Thanks for the order, and have a wonderful and blessed Christmas! :)

Installed the cobra bob gasket set along with changing the fluid in the trans. It's so much quieter now. Can't tell for sure if the trans fluid had anything to do with it but I'm very happy. Thanks bob.

Thanks for posting the photo of the gasket installed. Did you use the blue thread-locker on the bolts?

Yeah I picked up an MGW shifter and put a couple drops on the end of the threads before bolting them down.
Should be good to go. I've used your stuff on some of my previous projects with great results.

Solid product. Just finished install. On startup immediate noticeable difference. In addtion it looked whoever installed the shifter , basiclly just ripped the rubber boot out. so i was able to get is placed back and sealed like it was supposed to be(im sure that was contributing to the noise as well)

Tricky to keep the gasket still while tightning. but please with the results. Thanks bob

Glad you like the gasket kit, Dusty. I find that it easiest to finger tighten the four bolts (snug) and then alternate tightening the rest of the way. Little bit at a time with each helps to distribute the clamping force all the way around.

Nice shifter knob.
