I cannot find too much information on which kit to get. I was looking at LMR and most the McLeod kits arent looking like they fit a cobra, unless Im reading it wrong. Whats the best kit to get for a 03 cobra? Experiences from anyone? Worth it?
Definitely going MDL at some point. I'd be doing it now but my trans is already in and I need to spend the money elsewhere to finish my car.No contest.
MDL kit is an actual design, not some adhoc crap using two slave cylinders.
There is an MDL install thread in SVTP.
SYD was supposedly going to do an article on the MDL kit, but it never happened for some reason.
Just looked at their kit and they mention "moving PCV to front" on the DOHC engine.Definitely going MDL at some point. I'd be doing it now but my trans is already in and I need to spend the money elsewhere to finish my car.
I really want to see if I can find a way to lower the pedal height, pretty sure I can.
Sorry to disappoint but you won't see a full writeup from me on a DOHC.Just looked at their kit and they mention "moving PCV to front" on the DOHC engine.
I have trouble seeing how the PCV gets in the way.
Also,, Iirc MDL had a reservoir relocation kit as well.
I would contact MDL about that before installing.
I would like to see an article or writeup about this kit on the DOHC!!
That looks like a nice option. I wonder how the pedal effort is and if the pedal height is lowered or adjustable?I bought this kit and had it installed.
I tried to buy from modern drive line and they said their kit would not work with 03 Cobra unless they have updated it to work with the Cobra since I last called then![]()

Just personal preference I way prefer the hydraulic to the clutch cable.
We see you!! Great research!I have the MDL conversion kit.
On the Cobra, the driver side cam cover has the PCV valve located on the upper rear corner. It is very close to where the clutch cable passes through the firewall. The MDL kit repurposes this hole to mount the hydraulic master cylinder, pass through the firewall, and connect to the clutch pedal.
The master cylinder with an integrated reservoir will interfere with the PCV valve, but the master cylinder with a remote reservoir will clear it. Then to find a place to mount the reservoir…
Or, you can change the driver side cam cover to one from a Lincoln Aviator, which moves the PCV forward a few inches. Then the MC with integrated reservoir will clear.
In either situation, regardless of which MC or cam cover you use, you will have to cut a small notch out of the coil pack cover. I’ll update this post with pics ASAP.
Also, if you ever have to service the driver’s side cylinder bank such that you have to remove the cam cover, the clutch MC will have to be removed in addition to all the other stuff…
Another conversion kit that isn’t advertised very well and fits under the dash is made by Malwood. It seems like a quality piece as well, but I found MDL first.
