I got to drive an '11 Shelby GT 500 this morning, just a short trip in the rain to get a safety inspection done on it, never even got above 50. The difference between my old stocker and this machine are night and day. I am now officially ruined.

I know how you feel. I use to work at ford moving cars around and drivin them to get gas and stuff. Had to drive a gt500kr and some new Shelby's. Once u get in one of those you never want to leave

Thats why you buy more go fast parts for your car. If you cant own one, BEAT one! If I get over 500whp with my new tune coming up then ill be happy and sure to beat most GT500s around here, if not... its JT trim time! Lolololo

There are a lot of things that the new generation has that makes them much better than power and speed :p

eh I like the more raw feeling of our cars from a muscle car standpoint. The newer ones are getting too sporty, but then again I wouldn't blink if I had the chance to buy a 2013 shelby, the wife said ok if I sell my cobra but I can't stomach spending that kind of cash on a fun car. I am too responsible dammit!

I would define it as very refined. It's a fully loaded car. The horsepower was awesome, but there is also a big difference between an 18k mileage 1 year old car and a 115k 14 year old car.

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I have some buddies who have some deep pockets. I recently drove my buddies C5Z with HCI LTs exhaust and other nick nacks, recently tuned to 456 to the wheels. Man, talk about night and day. It was comfortable, had great drive ability, had a NASTY idle, and turns EVERONES head (exhaust tone helps as it straight pipe, no res or muffler) Now, I don't even enjoy driving my cobra. It sucks lol

I got to sit in a brand new 09 gt500 a few years ago at the dealership and start it up. That was awesome. But that kind of car payment would suuuuck ass.

I hated the '06-'09s. Worked at the area's largest ford dealer and drove a lot of them. Much too big, bulky, and heavy. And not a fan at all of the "retro" styling. Pretty corny if you ask me.

Now '10 and later GT500, they have really grown on me as far as looks and the '13 being so stout. Haven't had the chance to drive one though..

Maybe I'll take your advice and stay away haha!!

I still think that a lightly used C6 ZO6 would be a much better buy, lighter, bigger motor, cheaper to do a big cam, better suspension. So I don't see any GT500 in my future at this point..

I know better, I drive an old Escort around and when I am back in the Cobra it feels like a race car.I would still drive a new one if offered but right after I would be back in the Escort to get my head back right!
