I have NO idea why the hell they essentially kept it in the stock location. The way I look at it is if ford wants to know what the charge temps are why wouldn't everyone else?

When I had an S trim years ago I put it just before the bend in the charge pipe going into the throttle body. Only thing I'd change is putting it on the bottom to make it a cleaner install.
Did you use the factory rubber grommet? I'm having hell of a time finding a grommet that fits.

Anyone happen the part number for the threaded sensor? The idiots at auto zone cant seem to figure out that lightning has 2 and they are giving me the one I dont need. Another thing, since the only metal pipe that's on the blower is the one coming right pit of the blower is that a good location? I know you want it close to the TB but that pipe is plastic, cant weld a bung onto plastic.

Look at rock auto for the IAT sensor.

What are you talking about? The charge pipe running from the blower outlet to the TB is metal and as stated before that's where the threaded bung should be added. I don't understand how or why you're bringing up the plastic charge pipe?

It's not metal. Its plastic, the one coming off the blower is metal, the one going to the TB is plastic

I think some were. The elbow coming off the blower is metal, the PC coming from the TB is plastic. So I think I'm going to weld a nut on that elbow and use a lightning IAT. Not a whole lot of room but it's my only option. I just hope it's not to close to the blower. Dont know what options I have besides that. I tried a rubber grommet on a old PC of vortech pipe that's plastic and same thickness as what I have and that wont work. The grommet doesnt seat very well

I was thinking since that plastic is thick enough maybe I could tap that and screw it in to that. I'm worried if I place is in the metal elbow coming off the TB that is might see to much heat?

Wtf? Seriously? So vortech has not only upped the price of their kits but also changed the piping to plastic? Is it all plastic?

The one that connects to the TB kind of makes sense since it looks pricey to make out of metal.

I'd put the IAT sensor on the bottom of the elbow and call it a day.
I can't imagine there would be a huge drastic temp change from that elbow to the TB?

No there wouldn't be much. As long as you are after the blower you'll be good. The best place would be in the intake manifold but its not worth the effort and you'll be far better off then having it in the stock vortech location.

They got cheap with it. One PC is plastic the other is metal. Dont make much sense

Vortech has been doing this for a long while. When I bought my kit over 10 years ago the pipe that connects to the TB was plastic then. I have since replaced it with the polished aluminum version and my IAT sensor, lightning version, is tapped into the bottom side of it.
