When I bought my MGW Gen 2 shifter (12/18/2015), there was only one rear bushing. You should get with George and see if he is still making the other bushings.

I’m itching to make the jump too, just worried about the install.

How does the extended handle compare to the stock shifter?

About the same height?

Install not bad. Just take your time. I believe there is a YouTube video up on the install. You won’t believe the superior quality of MGW to OEM. The extended is longer but not pornstar longer.

If I can get a day off I will take a pic of both so everyone can see for themselves.

Posted up a bunch of times before but here it is the install video direct from George @ MGW

I would not be afraid of the install the only real hard part is getting those pin clips off and on and now in my case (didn't have to worry about this the first time I re & re my stock shifter) accessing that bolt that connects the shifter to the gear selector shaft on the trans.

Watch it a bunch of times and it will seem easy to do.

edit: the video near the beginning shows them providing 2 bushings for the rear bracket so I'm expecting 2 with my shifter when it arrives unless they've made a change and now only provide 1.

Cman is the man. I received two bushings. The hardest part I had was getting the shifter thru the top of transmission tunnel. Liked to never got it thru.

I watched the video a couple months ago, still a little anxious about doing it.

Everyone swears by it though...I ought to just man up and order one I suppose.

1.) The MGW shifter is awesome. I have one in my ACR and love it.
2.) A lot of grinding issues is operator's fault.

Tony Whatley does a good job of showing the angle. In order to go 1-2, of course you have to pull it towards and and down. Where a lot of people screw up, is that your elbow is actually on the passenger side of the shifter, when you pull, which can cause your hand to travel at a bad angle. On your 1-2 shift, you should almost tuck your elbow towards your side, it generates a more natural movement of your hand.

I just talked to MGW and was told that they no longer make the rear race bushing. Only the standard bushing comes in the kit.

No springs in the shifter. I noticed the shifter was a little stiff before I installed it and decided to lube the output shaft with some synthetic grease. Then I worked the shifter on the bench to distribute the grease. It loosened up pretty good on the bench and got better after installation.

I thought there were springs that keep the shifter centered in the 3-4 channel, thats why you feel a slight resistance when you pull the lever into the 1-2 channel and when you let go of the lever it returns to the center of the 3-4 channel. For me when the shifter was brand new the centering force was a bit to strong but after a little breaking in its perfect.

Edit: Also forget to mention I bought the extended lever at first but found it to tall for my liking, switched out to the standard length and found it more to my liking.

If my shifter shows up and there's only 1 rear bushing I would be interested in your race bushing if you don't want/need it...…………..let me know maybe we can work something out.

You are more than welcome to it if you need. Just have to find it. Working on two cars with parts everywhere plus trying to organize the garage with all the hours I work. Quite the fubar going on round here.

Forgot to add and I am not volunteering him in any way but Revvv lives where MGW is located I believe. He may have an inside line if you need anything but it was my experience that they were very very helpful when I called.

That sounds good, once I get my shifter and see what's there I'll be in touch.

Almost a week after ordering the shifter I FINALLY got tracking. Looks like it's coming directly from MGW since it's shipping from Georgia.

Should arrive at my pick up location on Tuesday so next weekend...…………..ROAD TRIP!!!!!

Debating whether I should start tearing into the car now and get the old shifter out or wait till I get the Gen 2 in my hot little hands first...………………….what would you do????

I went to order one today but the 10% sale ended.

I’d leave it and do it all at once.

One nice thing about the 13-14 concerning the shifter, you don't have to remove the driveshaft to remove the shifter out the bottom. Mine came out easily on the passenger side.

I've viewed the vid I added to post #24 a bunch of times when I did my stock shifter upgrades a few years ago, now since ordering my Gen 2 I have again watched the video a few more times already.

The procedure to install it is infused into my brain...……………..I'm ready to do this. GET ME MY GEN 2 MGW SHIFTER!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Quickjack and tools are ready to go, once it arrives it's going on and I'll be rocking and rolling with the new shift setup before you know it.

I've started tearing into the car this afternoon. Didn't do much but the car is up on the QJ Sunday and the inside stock shifter removal steps are done.

Tomorrow I'll work on the underneath stuff, should be able to get stock shifter out by Thursday at the latest.

Gen 2 will be delivered tomorrow and I'll go get it Friday, good chance I'll have the car back together by the end of the weekend.
