They spiked the vehicle (TIV2) 3 ft into the ground.

I'm gonna look more in to this vehicle. There's no way in hell I would be down for that with stock glass windshield/windows

    Edit
Ok, it's what I thought it should be, a damn tank

They were using bullet proof glass and the vehicle weighs 16000 lbs

Right there with you! I've been in 3 tornados but wished I could sit in one safely then out running or barring down during/after the aftermath.

This is awesome. I have always wanted to chase tornado's since I was a kid. Used to watch those guys with the TIV vehicle since they first started out and to see them do that is quite the accomplishment

Brandon Ivey is from Wichita, Seen Tiv 1 and 2 a few times with Sean Casey.
Tiv 1 is based on a 97 F-350 with the 7.3 and the ZF, it's only 2wd and is the backup when TIV2 breaks
Tiv 2 is based on a HD Dodge 3500 and has a Cummins 6.7 with water and propane injection and originally twin dana screws in the rear.
IIRC it originally was 6x6 but reliability made them drop back to just 6x4 and have the second rear-end just help carry/spread out the weight.
These pictures were taken on May 22nd of '12, a year before the intercept video.
