I remember President Bush declaration of war on terror

I remember just after 9-11, Bush came out and gave a speech about how this was not a fight for a month or year, this was a fight for generations. It seemed to have gone right over the politician's heads as two years down the line they were pissing and moaning about an exit strategy. As long as these Jihadist asshats keep wanting to blame everyone else for their miserable lives, this shit will continue.
And as long as asshat liberals keep wanting to blame everyone else for their miserable lives, this bull shit that's going on here will continue

Unlike foreign Generals, I hope this thread never dies.....
Once again the hypocrite Pelosi on camera saying Obama did not need congressional approval to use force in Libya. And again these liberal fools rear their ugly heads.
Republicans are now endorsing the bill to limit Trump's powers.
In principle I can get behind limiting executive powers. The issue is Democrats only care now because Trump is president and he has a much better, much more successful foreign policy and strategy that is embarrassing Obama at every turn.
But if they pass it, and when they do get the Whitehouse again, which they will, they too will be limited.
If your enemy is making a folly, let them. It benifits us all in the long run.
The War powers act is unconstitutional. Nixon correctly vetoed it as such but there were enough Democrats to override the veto.
Per the constitution, congress has only 2 roles when it comes to war. They allocate funds, make formal declarations of war. Besides that the only foreign policy they are involved with is to work with the executive branch to create and ratify treaties and pick ambassadors.
The POTUS has full control of the armed forces... the only limit is if congress cuts military funding.
Article 2, section 2
The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States; he may require the Opinion, in writing, of the principal Officer in each of the executive Departments, upon any Subject relating to the Duties of their respective Offices, and he shall have Power to Grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.
He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by Law: but the Congress may by Law vest the Appointment of such inferior Officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the Courts of Law, or in the Heads of Departments.
The President shall have Power to fill up all Vacancies that may happen during the Recess of the Senate, by granting Commissions which shall expire at the End of their next Session.
It's completely logical if you are a normal, rational thinking human being. If the President needs to make a spur of the moment decision to strike in the middle of the night does it make any sense to wait for Congress to convene in order to get approval? Absolutely not. The founders understood this like any rational person would. Wars take planning and they take a huge toll so getting approval from Congress makes complete sense, but a single strike or a series of strikes to eliminate an enemy should always lie solely with the President.
Thats going to work really well for them, just like Harry Reid's nuclear option lmao.
from what I understand it’s literally a couple...Rand Paul and some other schmuck, correct?
And people wonder why I just couldn't stand his ranty old man when he was a Texas Rep. This right here is why.
I actually want to like Rand, there are a few things I agree with him on, but he always makes it hard with bullshit stunts like this....I have given up on him...
I have the same problem with him
Well Iran just admitted to "unintentionally" shooting down the Ukraine jet.
