ok guys here is the spliff! I have an 03 cobra that i am swapping my irs for a stock 8.8 out of a 03 mach1. He is a buddy of mine and is going to give me everything i need from his car. So being this is my first swap what all parts will he have to give me and what will i need to buy ? Also once the rear is in my possession i will be doing some work to it, now that leads me to my second question. What parts would you guys suggest for axles, diff, gears, and upper and lower control arms ?what do i need to do to the driveshaft? So far what i have in mind is a stock 03/04 diff( strongest bang for the $$) , moser 31 spline axles, ford racing 4.10s and bbk upper and lower control arms. car is making about 505hp/500tq and i plan for maybe 600hp in the future. I will appreciate all your guys help!!

Keep your aluminum DS and buy a cobra IRS pinion flange for the SRA. ARP wheel studs.

Have the axle tubes welded while it’s out and taken apart, if you plan on going in a straight line look at teamZ rear end packages with relocated upper control arms. You can get a Detroit trutrac diff for about 500 bucks as well

If you’re going to put a gear and axles in it you might as well get it powder coated. Have it welded, put good upper bushings in, poly or solid. A 4:10 at 500hp will be hard to hook on the street and at 600hp you’re probably going to run out of gear in the 1/4 if you race. 3:73 will be a better gear for that power.

Agreed 4.10s is too much for that kinda power. Its not a bolt on 2 valve. Like others have said be smart take your time and get it welded braced with quality control arms like Team Z. Personally i bent two sets of 31 spline axles launching hard at the track with 600rwhp. So i now have 33 spline axles and true track, 9" ends, welded tubes, and bracing. But if you dont launch hard on slicks then you can probably get away with 31 spline.

Get a good set of shocks and springs, and for another good piece of mind get the torque boxes reinforced

Hi GearHead. I hope all has gone well for your swap. Last summer I purchased an '04 that had a solid axle installed. However, they never set up the ABS. I would like to know if you set yours up or not, and if so, do you mind telling me what your process was and what parts you used.

    Cheers fellow Terminator!
