Chicken/Egg.
Would there even have been a Shelby if not for the Mustang?
Sure there was that Olds thingy, and the FWD Dodge whatever.
But without the Mustang would Shelby have even been involved in automobile manufacturing?
I think not.
We will never know.
Well Shelby built his own car before the Mustang existed. Without the Mustang he for sure would have been involved either with his own chassis or something else

He approached GM first to use the small block but GM didn’t want to go there, fortunately Ford was more than willing to sell him engines

Sounds bout right....those 13/14 owners with their glass mustangs. I mean Shelbys
Wasn't there a thread on here back in the day where there was a big debate on whether it's a "Mustang" or a "Shelby"?
Could've even been back in the s197 generation, I'm not sure.

Shelby didn’t really “build“ the cobra, Phil Remington really built the cobra.

Former Shelby owner here. Its a ****ing Mustang that is a factory Shelby car.

Those owners are the same turds that get butt hurt when a Twin Turbo GT smokes them and they missed 2nd gear....

Least with the 07-13ish Carrol at least was alive and had input. Now it’s just a rubber stamp.

In my post, I was suggesting the Daytona Coupe, but I guess that was essentially the AC underneath
Inside Shelby American: Wrenching and Racing with Carroll Shelby in the 1960s If you want a first hand review of Shelby's shop. This is it! An amazing read! I have read it a handful of times. John Morton, you might know, used to race with Pete Brock and BRE. Won 2.5Transam Championship. Talks about Brock and Phil worked on the Daytona. Phil was reluctant, to say the least.
