Can you say if you're going to be trying the vmp setup? It would be nice to get away from the j2fab water inlet, it works but leaves a lot to be desired.
My first one wouldn't hold voltage at idle and was worthless. Then came the hairpin extremes and were supposed to cure all these issues. Got one of those and it didn't fit worth a darn and once done fighting that and getting it to fit it was dead in 1200 miles.
hopefully it's being delivered today. worth mentioning that he did not, in fact, "send it out tomorrow" . . . he hit me up a full week later and asked if i received it yet. i said no, and asked if it had been mailed and got no reply. the next day i got an email from fedex with the tracking info - not even a response from J2Fab. embarrassing.
mine on my mach has voltage issues at idle with ac and headlights on...even with a 10%OD crank pulley now... ridiculous
I guess I'll pile on too. I see I'm not alone waiting on an intercooler and my inquiries being ignored. I'm going on week 11 for a GT500 intercooler order. They are unresponsive to my e-mails inquiring about the status of my order. If someone knows something they don't wish to post in an open forum, please PM me any details you may know.
I can't speak for the alternator (I honestly thought that they were always insanely expensive for what you got), but most people did praise the performance benefits of the intercooler adapter. There really isn't any denying that, even with machining/manufacturing flaws. The crank support seems to be a solid product and comparatively priced to the MFP, both with slightly different designs. Nobody has really ventured in to a serious intercooler for our cars because the 4.0 has always been the biggest blower which needed more flow, and too few people have ran them. Now we have a couple blower options and it's a logical step. J2fab stepped up "first" (yes, I know LFP did too, but their product was a very minor step up) so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. Think about it, KB made one for other cars, but not even ours. J2 isn't working with a mom and pop intercooler shop, and it truly does suck to see something nearly go down in flames that would really benefit our cars. I'm being as patient as possible, but it is wearing on me. The vendor was supposed to get back to me over a week ago (it's small, but not in the scope of 3.5 months) with an answer on either a REAL rough timeline, or an "I DON'T KNOW", and I haven't received a response. If we get a VMP option as well as the J2/bell, we will all be better off.
well, i received the new adaptor. i had to pressure test it real quick because the inside welds were mega sloppy. it seems to be air tight, at least. however . . . still no mounting hardware included!! maybe the intention is to use the gummy bears that were included to glue it in place
just curious why do you say the 4.0 is the only blower that needs more flow? The stock intercooler air CFM is in the 700cfm range. Most of the guys running 20+ psi are past 1500cfm and my current setup is 2200cfm which is 3x what the stock intercooler can flow. That massive restriction will create heat on its own. The advertised 1200cfm air flow should take a decent amount of heat out of the system before we even begin running fluids through it. I have been waiting 4 months for mine but once I get it I will be doing substantial testing on it. My car is running great so no rush for mine but of course I would love to have it.
That's not to downplay the other blowers as being beneficial to more flow, but the 4.0 was the only one that NEEDED more flow. I'd bet there would be minimal improvements in horsepower with additional flow characteristics on cars making below 1000 flywheel hp. Right now, we have a handful of much smaller/more efficient blowers that will blow past the 1000 mark though, where as previously, very few people were running the big blowers for obvious reasons. Hopefully mine comes in time for the new engine and all the kinks are worked out by then.
I have the a number of his parts on my car including the flow mod on my terminator, combined with a trunk tank the cooling results were amazing it was like night and day. My car felt like it piked up 100hp and IAT2 stayed near ambient or even below with ice. Only issue I had with it was there were still a lot aluminum shavings in the intercooler which I did my best to clean out but still the residual shavings eventually hurt my rule2000 intercooler pump and I had to replace it. I am still glad I have the mod and did it, the quality of the kit was good despite the shavings issue. I'm truly sorry to hear about everyone issues...I got to know Justin over the years, helped him a bit with his website didn't strike me as an evil master mind, I feel like he's a victim of his own success kinda like Al Pappito (Boss 330 Racing). Nevertheless it does not excuse him from making things right to each one of you. Having mechanical talent does not always translate to running a business talent. I hope he makes good to everyone.
After reading the newest insta post from J2, I'll admit that I'm kind of nervous about being out $1350. I'm outside of 60 days, and no product in sight. Hopefully Lethal does right on this, whatever ends up happening. I must say, it makes me prefer companies that charge when products ship, not when orders are placed.
I was going to get the J2 Fab crank support but after talking with MFP I will wait for theirs. Studded crank and crank support should keep the stock crank in check.
Man I've been gone for a while it seems like. Come back and Justin is getting tossed under the bus. Sucks to hear about the issues some if you guys are having with both products and customer service. I'm not saying he was trained by the Disney staff but most of my interaction with him has been positive. My flow mod set up is killing it on the iat2 temps, my alt is pumping out good voltage and shit is just working. Only thing I want now is his underhood 3 gal tank to replace my trunk tank, I hate the 1" lines traveling the whole way. Hopefully he figures out his products and gets a good customer service representative to save his business. Good luck fellas!
Sorry to hear everyone issues, I purchased his Hairpin High Amp alternator (powder coated black), it also included the big 3 wire upgrade and its been great! Bolt it right in. I struggled a bit with the battery ground cable cause it was a little short. The engine to chassis ground cable was fine. My car hits 14.8v at start up idling, and once warm with accessories running the lowest its dropped is 13.3-13.4v.
Ya im waiting for the crank support and innercooler. Been 4 months for me. Theres a video of him talking to Mike Stewart from "Bell". sounds like Justin gets all his Innercoolers fabricated by bell. I thought he just gets the bell cores and does the welding himself but i guess not. Theres more videos on his channel opening up innercoolers. They look like crap! Now i feel like i should cancel the order. I dont want one of his innercoolers thats been welded a million times.
