I just installed a new 2.1 KB on my 2002 GT and I'm shaking it down to make sure its running right.

I'm getting a weird whistling sound around 1000 to 1200 RPM, listen to it in the video below.

I don't think its the standard KB whine, I can hear that as a separate sound.

In the video below you hear the KB whine more when you rev the engine up and then the whistle more as the engine revs down.

Its also idling a little high in park, a data log shows it should be idling at a commanded 750 RPM but it only comes down to around 825 RPM.

I've tried capping the PCV, evap and EGR vacuum inputs and also tried blocking off the IAC but whistle stays there. I also tried squirting brake cleaner around the base of the manifold and around the injectors but no change in idle.

When I disconnect the IAC electrical connector the does drop to around 700 RPM but the IAC is an almost new Motorcraft and it was working fine before the blower install, and the engine was running and idling perfectly before the install, the plugs looked perfect.

I've never heard a KB run before, is this whistle normal or do I have a leak in the case or under the manifold somewhere?

Big thanks to MIKE and Ken at kenne bell for hooking me up with first pre production mammoth 2v.

Very pretty car and engine bay SilverStang, nice work. Your 130 MPH is saying the car will do 10.30's or so if you put some slicks on it.

I worked on the high idle more on my new KB 2.1 install and did some logging on it and came to the conclusion that there isn't anything wrong with the IAC.

The car just seems to idle around 75 RPM more than the commanded 750 RPM, this is in park/neutral.

I'm thinking this is an issue caused by the bank2 fuel trims flying all over the place because of the infamous cylinder 5 bypass valve design on this version of the blower.

Are you guys seeing a warmed up idle of around 825 RPM in neutral on your KB's?

Calboy I couldn't tell exactly what my idle is but it's very similar to yours so I wouldn't worry about it and thank you for the compliments as it is my money pit lol. Once the weather good again and my saleen body kit on I want to get it in one of the mustang mags. Wife hates it though as it is the second woman lol.

Im interested in seeing what the 2.8 Mammoth does with more boost. I'm currently running the 2.8H on my 2v and still on a break in tune. Soon to up the boost to 19lbs with a finalized tune.

OLD Setup: (Mods in sig)
3.25 pulley I think
7.5 Crank
16.5psi
669whp

New Setup:
8 rib
either a 2.75 or 3" blower pulley
shooting for as close to 700 to the wheels as possible.

All through a 4r70w.

My tuner/builder doesn't want me to go with a smaller pulley due to the increase in heat. Have any of you guys had major heat issues and if so, how did you correct/fix them. He is also worried about losing driveability from the access heat.

BTW, what are stock size smooth idler pulley's for 2v's? I was told stock termi pulley's would work but they're just a tad bigger. What do you 8 rib guys use??

Sorry to wake up an old thread but I wanted to share for the rest of the guys with a 2.1 KB that want to upgrade the inlet and don't have $1000-1400 for a sheetmetal one. I was looking around all the forums and couldn't find a straight answer weather you could fit a 2.8 Mammoth inlet on our little 2.1 blowers. So I gave it a shot even though KB told me it wasn't doable since there was to many modifications needed. Let me tell u that it's totally do-able i spent
$250 for mammoth inlet
$100 Ford Gt supercar throttle body
$100-150 on fittings and new fluids

1st u need to get the inlet from KB, then u need to look for a Ford Gt super car throttle body which I tried looking for the other day and cant seem to find them on ebay no more I got lucky and found it for $100
Next u need to modify ur heat exchanger coolant fitting u can try and use 45* fitting if that dnt clear then ur gona have to have someone tig weld them shut and ur gona need to drill & tap them like I did.
I also purchased a blower spacer from KB not sure if they still have them since they told me the one i purchased from them was the "last one" this is the spacer found on the old 2.2 kit if not there's another website that sells a spacer met for meth injection or Nos. this will raise the blower to give u extra fuel rail clearence.
