1969, 70 and 71. Boss 302's, Boss 351"s, and Boss 429's. Ford used it on engines and Shinoda used it on the name of the car itself.

Black93Cobra said:My contention is that offering such an engine in a Boss is a compromised in both rpm potential and overall engine weight. We know the Boss has to be a handler with stellar braking capability. Installing a heavy iron block 5.4L over the nose will not be the optimum solution for the Boss. IMHO the Boss needs to be directed to a very underserved segment of the Mustang universe - the open track, road race set that place equal emphasis on handling, braking and power.
Fourcam330 said:Let me ask you this, block material aside, if both motors spin to 7200rpm, would you take 5.0L of displacement over 5.4L?

Fourcam330 said:Unfortunatley for you, what you've stated is not correct. I've actually corrected this misinfo countless times in the past.......As for buying a falcon, they are nice cars but are extremely heavy for a N/A 5.4 to move around. Even with 350rwhp+ you're running 13s at best....... 03/04 generics....... Sorry to burst your bubble, it's a verified fact, they are not R/GT/GT500 heads........Here endeth the lesson.
nrmustang said:1st I would like to see some credentials please on what makes you a modular master (you think)
2nd you must like the 1320 personally, but thats not all there is to a car.
3rd how do you define generic heads? Are they Walmart or Kirkland brand?
4th I have personally spoken to a FPV (Ford Performance Vehicles) rep and HE gave me the description of the Motor Buildup. So arguing your point is like telling an SVT rep that the terminator doesnt have Manley Rods or an Eaton supercharger, but generic (?) parts.
5th Thanks for long windeth lesson.

And if you write for 5.0, i'll cancel my subscription! (what a shmuck in real life, huh?)
Arguing with you is cutting into my precious driving time.

Black93Cobra said:Are we assuming the same level of HP and torque out of each engine? If that is the scenario, I'd take 5.0L to keep in the theme of the original Boss 302. Ford could offer two Boss models in successive years, a Boss 302 with a 5.0L and a Boss 351 with 5.8 liters of H/Boss displacement. 5.4L just doesn't fit the Boss theme.
JETSOLVER said:Weight not being the deciding factor(Which it bloody well ought to), whichever has more headroom left. Ford has done a pretty good job of leaving us good stuff to work with, but just stuffing a truck engine in a rental car sort of lets down the side don't you think?
Its about time to move the game on, as you know where the competition has set its benchmark. Or are we looking at another decade of playing catch up?
SVT set the bar high, or was it just a case of steriod enhancement, forever doomed to be marked with an asterisk.
BTW, is there any knowledge of whether any new H/B is going to be a CGI material as although Ford has some 4's in production, I didn't see anything in all the press about the new TwinForce block material.

Shinoda has the trademark for BOSS now don't they? I thought Ford could'nt use it now beings Shinoda has it thats why I asked.
And Ford used it on "cars" back for those years.
Back ot the fun!op:
