Are those stock wheels and tires?
Yes they are. They are AEV branded wheels since it's the "AEV" edition. They are bead lock capable I'd just have to buy the ring separately. I aired down to 28lbs when we got to the first trailhead and aired back up today when we got to the end of the trail.

I sure do miss this truck. When I sold it I'm pretty sure the frame was about to snap in half.

I took the new GMC out for 3 days in the mountains. I saw this rock next to the trail and had to give it a shot. The little turbo 4-banger did great.

It's not Tacoma-level bad ass, but pretty sweet nonetheless.

Love the subtle turbo whistle.

Rust problems??? Knew a Senior Chief back in the day that had a black SS, he loved that truck.
Yeah man unfortunately. It was a 2003 and I sold it is 2020 and it only had ~83K miles. I've almost always had a company truck so it just sat. Went to drive it one day and the brake pad has rusted to the rotor. When it broke loose it just fell out. During that job I noticed how much it had declined and how bad it shape the frame was in. Can corners were gone and rust was just everywhere behind the cladding. I stepped on the rear bumper and I could hear it crumble under my boots. I nearly cried when it drove away but it would've been too much for me to fix it right.

I’d put my stock truck up against any stock Tacoma and feel fairly confident. I just saw another video today where someone blew out the upper shock tower mount on a brand new Tacoma going over a bump on a dirt road. There was that and the guys who blew out their front diff doing some mild off-roading.

It was sarcasm, but yeah. GM twins are the shiz in this class these days.

i want one with a whipple for gapping fools and general shenanigans lol. hard to justify having 2 trucks, maybe if the other truck was a super duty or something.

Same here. I go back and forth on selling the Lightning and getting one with a whipple. It would be a lot more reliable and a lot faster.

It's crazy how quick and reliable they are when you're not trying to get every bit out of them. Mid-upper 7xx hp and they'll live forever. Once the aftermarket cracks the 24s and there's other options for tuning it'll be getting a Whipple.
