I ordered some Forgestar CF5s for my 2007 Shelby GT500 in brushed titanium. I went with 19” x 9.5” in front and 19” x 11” in the rear. While I believe the 19” wheel size is perfect for the S197 body style it really limits your tire choices over 300mm wide. I plan to run a Nitto Invo 325/30/19 in the rear. Does anyone have a picture of that tire on a S197 or better yet a GT500? Thanks!
I think you are right, the 19 is the perfect size wheel for that car. That is what was on the prototype in '06. Then they changed to 18's at the last minute, or decided to all along, who knows. I've never heard of anything over a 305 being clearance free. A few owners that run 315s say they are rubbing with 315s and most offsets.
Found one... in another SVT thread Tire diameter and width on a GT500 look good to me! http://www.svtperformance.com/forums/2011-mustangs-354/827102-widened-brembo-wheels.html
Clearance issues I’ve searched countless threads on wheel width and I’ve seen every statement made about what width works and what doesn’t. The general consensus seems to be that Nittos run a little narrower than other brands of the same width. Again, I can’t prove or disprove any of it until the Forgestars arrive and I order the Nittos. I still have to install my lowering springs and adjustable panhard bar. I think width comes into play more when you increase the wheel diameter, like going to a 20” wheel. The Nitto 325/30/19 is nearly identical in diameter to the stock 285/40/18. And of course offset comes into play too. I’ll post some pics when it all comes together.
I have your exact wheel and tire combo on my 2009 it fits perfect! I will try to post some pics tonight when I get home. My wheels are black graphite that is the only difference
That would be so awesome... Some pics of that combo would sure make me feel good about the 3k I'm spending on wheels, tires and panhard. Looking forward to the pics. Thank you.
