Before anyone gets out of hand, I did use the search function. Only found the one thread that showed a full install of the On3performance turbo kit. Which was great and a great read.

I'm curious if anyone else has the on3 kit or hellion kit, and what are the plus and minuses for each option.

I plan on picking up a car this saturday and next week ordering the turbo kit.

Any information, tips, etc would greatly be appreciated.

    Thank you guys!

    Josh

On3 kit has horrible fitment issues from i have read on other forums. Hellion seems to be the way to go, just make sure you have all the supporting pieces before relying on just the kit you get.

I have a Hellion kit on my car. No complaints about it. It fits well really, the quality of parts is great and their customer service is awesome.

One thing I would recommend with the Hellion kit is converting it to a blow-thru MAF design, which can be done relatively cheap. The cost of the MAF aside, I think I've got $50 total wrapped up in converting mine. When it was draw-thru it would sometimes die coming to a stop because of MAF wash from how the by-pass valve was routed back into the intake.

I can't believe the price difference. There has to be a catch.

Get what you pay for. With the Hellion kit the fitment of the piping won't suck. The turbo won't be junk. You won't need to purchase a better wastegate or blow-off valve. Your v-bands won't leak....

Everything I've just listed are common issues with the On3 kit. Just search and you'll see for yourself.

As I recall, that car also didn't have A/C, power steering, power brakes or a front sway-bar on it. Which explains a great deal about why the kit worked as well as it did for him and so many other people have such fitment issues...

I'm not advocating anyone specifically purchase a Hellion kit. I just would not buy an On3 kit.

A friend of mine locally went to an on3 kit and had horrible issues with piping as well, ended up replacing all the hotside within a month.

The first thing the on3 kit says you need is a new k-member LOL F-That.

What are your goals with the car and we can help you better.

Looking to be a street strip car.

Very driveable and user friendly. a/c power steering, etc.

600 plus rwhp would be the end game.

But since I'm picking up the car saturday, I thought it would be fun to just put a power adder on it for now and do the motor next spring.

    Off-hand, I don't know of any kit that doesn't require a new k-member.

Non intercooled vortech would be cheap, reliable, easy to install compared to turbo. Both have their benefits, I have seen used centri blowers sell cheap though. I don't know much about turbos, but I would not buy the cheapest one and expect good results.

Hellion does make a great kit. As Tabres said before, if you don't convert the kit to a blow-thru design or else you'll stall after getting in to boost. This is not an issue that a tune can fix.

Not exactly true. On lower boost this is not an issue. When we have turned them up a little it becomes an issue. Fwiw the fitment on on3's stuff is spotty at best. The newer forward facing stuff is "supposed" to be better the old kits sucked and cracked often. Hellion's fitment was pretty good but at their price it should be!

Ok first off the on3 kit is awesome. I run it on my car and with all the supplies they included for six months, I'm now shooting for 800 rwhp and will be replacing the turbo in the kit with a gtk 1050 turbonetics. I already got turbo smart wastegates and bov. I would also cereamic coat the headers. The fitment was great in my kit. Retained the fog lights as well. All the people giving opinions on the on3 either a have never installed a turbo kit, I have never installed a turbo kit that went on perfect, and my tuner sells a ton of these kits with great success. or b just heard rumors from another person that heard from another person....

Not to derail the thread, but from what I see in your current setup is that if your PCV doesn't seal properly your pressurizing your crankcase which may lead to main seal failure
