Maybe somebody can tell me why were seing low tq numbers on gt 500's that have mods ?

Ive seen good hp numbers just with cai @ tune 480-500...but tq numbers have been down in the 440-450 range ? I would think they would be up at the 500 range with a 5.4 ?

my 03 cobra with c/b cai/ pulley @ tune put down 465 hp and 487 tq - thats with a 4.6

Any thoughts ? (will a pulley solve the low tq problem)

i think a large part is the tune. within the tune you can decide if you would rather have more horsepower or more torque. most people choose the horsepower side of things. just a guess, i have no clue at tuning cars.

with a pulley the power will increase both, at a greater rate than tune alone.

Pulley will solve it.

You are comparing a car at 9 -10 lbs of boost to a car with 13-15 lbs.

GT500's have such good HP numbers for a few reasons, the main one is that the M122 holds the boost higher into the RPM band, keeping the Torque curve from dropping as quick as Terms with the M112.

where have you seen low torque numbers like that from modded shelby's? I made 460# at the rear wheels sae with 21* and 445# at 19* only mod is a tune.

the torque numbers are not low, just lower than the horsepower figures. he thought that after the tune torque and horsepower figures should increase about the same. meaning torque numbers would closer to the horsepower figures, something like 475rwhp and 469rwtq.

Torque is always going to boost related. You can see this by the bigger motor making the same torque as pullied/modded terms with 3-5 less psi. Also, other terms have higher torque relative to the hp becasue people also run aggressive lowers to get more boost in the bottom end, but the blower can't sustain it up top.
