So the bypass is installed after the intercooler?

At first yes. But I was getting a lot of compressor surge so I installed a bov right after the compressor. It was non functional at first. When I got to the tuner I switches from the Lightning maf to the sct, and I connected the vacuum lines to the bov so both the bov and bypass were in use. When the tuner said the maf signal was low I disconnected the bypass. Same result. Switched to just the bov, and same results again. Tried every combo. But at no time was in venting to atmosphere when it was not supposed to.

Wait, you have two bypass valve installed currently? If that's the case I would ditch the one after the intercooler. Keep the one right after the blower. Mine was right after the blower and before the intercooler.

I have a bypass valve between the blower and the intercooler. My slot style MAF is near the same location as the stock one.

Pull the valve off the passenger side and put a block off plate. Make it out of something relatively thick. What's the open bung on behind the MAF for?

Any chance you can post a log?

Are you using the valve that came with the kit? Can you post a picture of your pipe setup?

Not using the valve that came with the kit. But they are cheap fleebay valves. I'll gladly upgrade later when the low signal issue is figured out. I just don't think the Bypass or BOV is the issue at the moment other than having compressor surge. The BOV with the filter is non functional at the moment. If it ever gets running right I will have both valves vent to atmosphere, or install a larger quality BOV. All the intercooler piping is stock CXRacing. https://www.cxracing.com/intercoole...ustang-94-04/KIT-MSTG-9604-46SC-IC0022-BOV-OCcar01.jpg car02.jpg car03.jpg

I'm getting really discouraged with this project. The first tuner is MIA. Won't answer calls, hasn't responded to emails since Mar 4th. Mid Atlantis Performance website is down. I did call and left a message. Hopefully he will get back to me soon for a appointment without to much wait. Talked to National Speed, they seem super confident they can fix the issue and get it tuned in about 5 hours for just over $800. with a month long waiting list. Not feeling that AT All.

I just want to drive my car. About ready to say F**k this supercharger.

Anyone know a regular priced tuner without a month wait in maybe VA, NC, MD, TN? At this point I'm ready to trailer it somewhere to get it done right.

Maybe a little further than you’re looking for - Kevin McDonald @ jpc racing, fast lane, kurgan motorsports to name a couple

Looks like JPC is about 150 miles, Fast Lane is about 170 miles. I'll check into those 2 for price and wait list. Kurgan is 400 plus miles, can't do it lol.

Thanks for the info.

You also have to take into account the current state of affairs. Probably not a lot of people working on outside stuff.

Don't sweat it. I was in waaaay worse shape than you to begin with. I had worse MAF placement and a bad MAF signal. I was seeing a 60+ count variation in signal and it drove like shit. I didn't have much real estate to play with, and just way worse geometry. My tuner couldn't/wouldn't do crap for it. I at least got it driveable but it left a lot on the table.

Do you have any examples of your MAF signal when it comes to variation? Particularly to show how much it's moving around under steady state conditions, including at idle.

Your mounting location could be improved a little, but I don't know how much you would gain. If it's got a long straight section you would want it after as much long stretch as possible with a couple inches before the next turn. If you have to mount it near or on a bend you want to have it on the neutral axis of the bend. (Ex say you're looking at the pipe and it's going from traveling in the X-axis and is turning to go in the Y-axis, you want the MAF sensor mounted in the Z-axis.)

But I don't know if I'd even mess with that. What might really help you is what helped me. I went to a MAF flow screen a few inches upstream of the MAF. The difference was night and day. I went form 60 count variation to about 6. I'm using a 1" thick aluminum honeycomb with a roughly 1/16" cell size. You can get them of varying thicknesses and densities. They run them on a lot of stock applications and what it does is make the airflow in that region more stable and uniform. Putting one in might just be a very cheap, easy fix.

For tuners decipha on here is absolutely incredible.

I talked with National Speed because they are the only tuner to repsond. They suggested switching from the BBK 78mm throttle body back to the stock Ford. I did, and it made a lot of difference in idle and throttle responce. Now I just have to wait another month or so to get it in their shop dyno and over pay.

Question: Does the hose for the IAC need to be after the MAF?

The way mine is setup now if running on the slot style MAF the IAC hose would be before the MAF.

the OEM TB is best for drivability but won't change anything about the maf

Update: Moved the IAC to a spot in the intake tube that is after the slot style MAF right before the throttle body. Took the car to National Speed and they tuned it no problem. Runs Great now. Very happy with how it runs. A little disappointed by the numbers but it's a stock 99 2V so. It put out 330 HP and 355 torque to the wheels.

Those numbers seem really low for an intercooled setup. What size pulley are you running and how much boost are you seeing? For reference I made 355 and 365 on a non intecooled 6 PSI S-trim back 10 years ago.

The CX racing intercooler also has a reputation for high restriction and boost drop but I don't think that is causing your low numbers.

Stock crank pulley and a 3.33 Vortec on the V3.

Car has a stock 4R70W transmission. I know a auto will eat up some HP but I didn't think it would be that much. I was thinking it would have made around 375 HP?
