Magnaflow catback with magnapacks

Ive seen a few threads on this, but which side of the mufflers does the pipes need to be modified. One guy told me it just clamps right on but everything else I see states they must be welded on one side. Just looking for which side and what exactly has to happen. The part no mufflers I have are 14416.
I will be pairing this with a Magnaflow catted-x. Any help or suggestions would be great.

I have a Magnaflow cat back and catted X. When I switched out the mufflers for the Packs, I had to get the pipe cut (the packs are about 4 inches longer) and get them welded in.

Did you have to cut the pipe on just one side of the muffler or both? Wonder if they make a shorter one that would fit correct.
