They need to do something with the side of the thing. The door lines are so boring. Reminds of a new generation Nissan pathfinder.

Which is weird. Seems like Ford hates America, the explorer ST is $59,990 in our northern funny money which is 45k usd. Wont pretend I understand why. A redeye challenger is 120k cad. Go figure

Mustang inspired now, 2 years down the road it will be the mustang replacement. Case in point Mitsubishi reviving the eclipse nameplate as a lame crossover.

I came back to give it a second look, to see if my first look opinion changed any. Nope! It's still severely lacking, styling wise. JMO.

And it is officially a Mustang- named the Mustang Mach-E

Edit: of course I walk away, post, and then notice it was announced here. My bad.

Rather have a Super Duty that will actually be capable of doing anything.

A work truck Super Duty(anything with options is WELL above that) or a $50,000 well equipped base model performance SUV? They aren't even in the same league? Apples to Tacos.

It would be better asking yourself - would you rather an Explorer ST w/ Performance Pack or a Mustang Mach-e? Id take the full fledged electric performance SUV versus the slightly warm Explorer.

    I just priced out a 2020 F350 Lariat long bed with 7.3L and 20" rims for 56k.

You're correct. But in this case the apple is a one trick pony (no pun intended) that may be very fast, but is always going to be limited in what it can do by its battery pack. I doubt it can haul much cargo due to its GVWR and its tow rating will likely be limited due to strain on the electrical system. So, its probably a mall crawler that can surprise a few people out in Mexico on occasion.

The orange on the other hand can haul, tow, be a very comfortable family vehicle and if it strikes the owner's fancy turned into a very quick vehicle too. Based on configuration of course.

You literally made my point even better. If you dont need to tow anything then you dont need an F250. If you want a mall cruiser that will wallop cars/trucks from stoplight to stoplight while carrying your family this fits the bill perfectly.

Comparing an F250 to an electric performance SUV doesnt work. Those buying an electric performance SUV arent looking to tow 15k lbs. They want something fast, trendy and have the ability to carry people/cargo. And to make an F250 anywhere close to the performance of this SUV would take a significant cost into a build along with all the headaches associated.

Your comparison take two demographics for these vehicles. Same exact reason why the Nissan Rogue sells like hotcakes yet it cant tow, has a shitty transmission and ZERO performance potential. The people buying Rogues in droves are the ones who want a people mover that gets good mileage and has features. They could care less about performance or towing anything. They hop in, turn it on, turn on the heated seats and head to the mall.

It seems adding the Mustang name made people hate the idea versus just hating the name. I hate the name too but these electric cars are stupid fast and with a proper charging network makes them extremely viable for day to day and even medium length road trips.
