Looking for some advise on travel to Nassau. We are taking a vacation in July for 4-5 nights, just us, no kids. I'm looking for a really nice place. I don't mind spending some decent money.

I've been looking at Atlantis, and Sandals so far. I like the Sandals all-inclusive idea, but have found a lot of bad reviews about the place. Atlantis looks nice, but really expensive for what you get. Wondering what other options there are. Looking for a really nice room, like a 1 bedroom suite. Adults only would be nice, but not necessary. Good food and great atmosphere. Looking to do a lot of RELAXING. We lead very hectic lives, two kids, I'm on the road a lot, etc.

Thanks in advance. Also, I picked Nassau because we can get a direct flight pretty cheap. I don't want to spend a day getting to a place and a day to get home. Home is Houston and I'd be willing to look at other places with direct flights. I'd like to stay out of Mexico.

I've never been to Nassau but I went on a vacation on Grand Bahama Island maybe 7 or 8 years ago. More specifically it was the Westin at Our Lucaya but apparently it is a Radisson now. I was 15 or 16 at the time so I obviously went with my parents. It was my only time to the Bahamas, there are two hotels there and the Sheraton had more elaborate pools and seemed to be more "kid-friendly" so that might not be the best place for relaxation. It wasn't all inclusive or at least we didn't have an all inclusive package and the food was pretty expensive. I think most dinner meals that were in the resort were about $150-200 for our family of 4 [also] the taxis were expensive. They also had a casino there. Either way, this may be useless information if you can't get a direct flight out of Houston.

I just got back from Nassau. Awesome place, but no where to go. Alot of tourist traps and high prices, and a good bit of crime if you are not careful.

We hung out at Atlantis and the beaches around there. It was awesome, and we had alot of fun at th Casino too.

Went to Sandals for my honeymoon and had a good time. We spent a week there and we took a day trip to Atlantis so we got to see both. You are going to drop a good bit of money no matter which one you go to but for me I would go back to Sandals. If you go just make sure you get the room with the butler service, definately worth it.

Now thinking about the 5 Night cruise out of Galveston. Goes to Progresso and Cozumel. Anyone been on this one? It is Carnival on their Ecstasy boat. We would get the biggest suite they offer.
