I cannot recommend a Spec Stage 2. I put one in my fox when I supercharged it and it chattered worse than an Aborigine at the North Pole. Swapped to an Exedy and it feels good.

if you like centerforce, this clutch might be good for you. Will hold more power than you plan on making too. PN: KDF214814 - Dual Friction , Clutch Kit | Fits Ford - Mustang - 1996-1998 - SVT Cobra - Naturally Aspirated - 4.6L - 281 Cid - V8 - DOHC - 32 Valve - GAS - FI - 5-Spd. - Car
Search around for a better deal cause I'm sure you can find one

Don't. It will do nothing but annoy you at idle especially if there is a curb next to you. All you'll be able to hear is the stupid weights chattering and after they wear they'll even start to sqeak a little. You'll find yourself holding the clutch in when you don't need to and you'll go through a throw out bearing before that clutch it done.

Been there done that and never again.

ive been through a ton of clutches in almost 200k on a 450 whp terminator and if staying single disc, my best experiences and longevity were from ram. wasn't a big fan of the centerforce, but maybe because it was too agressive (dfx).

i posted a detailed review of all of 'em a couple years ago

Really? I’ve used the CF DF clutch in 3 of my Foxbody cars around the 500-550hp range. I loved those clutches for that power level and never had a single issue with them. Now, I will say that I always had loud exhaust and usual LT headers (1 car had shorties). Maybe that’s why I never heard any chirping noises. Also maybe which trannys I used made a difference? (T-5 or TKO 600).
I was about to recommend this clutch to the OP, haha.

Yes seriously and your exhaust will play a factor as to how loud those weights will be.

Don't get me wrong it's a great clutch as far as engagement and holding power.

The weights got louder after about 5k and later they started speaking lightly possibly from the dust creates as the clutch wore in a little.

The worst part was when I took the car to have it put in the guy cringed and warned me about the noise. He didn't want me blaming him for it and explained it all. He had run a few on his personal cars and had customers complain about the noise. He said unless I was ok with it he wouldn't put it in. I had to get it done because mine was smoked and said F it.

I don't see how a different trans would make any difference because the pressure plate weights are the same for every application.

If it weren't for that noise I'd run one again because I loved how it performed.

What I had at that level, enjoyed it more than my SPEC. Like the twin disc more now but double the price. Not a bad choice.

Old thread, but I'd also like to know which RAM is equivalent to the dual friction CF. I was ready to order one until I read this about them squeaking

Liked the driveability of my Spec stage 2, my RST is more off/on. Promotion makes a nice one too, not sure if they are still around or were just reselling another brand

I’ve had the Exedy Mach 400 clutch in my car for 30k, all boosted miles. At 604/626 it’s still holding strong, but it’s getting swapped out when this engine comes out for another refresh. Clutch feels like stock and have had zero issues.
